Has anyone tried whole wheat couscous with their little ones? My boys are 9 months and I'm looking in my cabinet for new things and saw the couscous. I think I'll give it a try, does anyone "season" the food for thier 9 month olds?

i give my girls ww couscous all the time - they don't like the super smooth purees anymore but i still have a freezer full, so i started mixing in a couple of Tbps of couscous for texture & that seemed to do the trick.

for seasoning i've used cinnamon, parsley & basil and they've done fine with that. they recommend that you avoid adding any extra salt to food as it can be hard on their little kidneys & also to avoid or limit pepper as it can be difficult to digest. GL!

I tried couscous before a year old- probably between 10-11 months. Warning- its messy- as I'm sure you can imagine. I make it with low sodium, low fat chicken broth and then usually put a little olive oil and parm cheese with it. My girls love it!

My boys love Couscous, though I'm not sure I gave it to them before a year. Not because there is anything wrong with it, I just didn't think of it. They also love stuffing (like the kind from a turkey). I make the stuffing with spicy sausage and they like it even better than the plain! I have weird kids! :)

They loved it!!! There was some trouble getting it to thier mouths (they like to feed themselves), but I mixed some with cinnamon applesauce and feed them as they played with the plain and they loved it (so did I-yum!)!!!
I love giving them different things, I think it helps to build an appreciation and liking of food. My 4 and 2 year old will eat just about anything now and I think it is because we gave them flavorfull and different foods. Fun stuff- I love that my babies can sit at the table (in high chairs) and we can have a family dinner! :woohoo:

Oh yum! That sounds good! Glad they liked it and you now have something else to give them.

My DDs used to eat couscous around that age (when they were young enough not to be picky). Be warned, it is very messy. :D
