Is there anything to be done about throwing food from the highchair? Mine throw food whether its their favorite food or their most hated food.Whether they've had enough to eat or are just getting started. Has anyone ever been able to put an end to food throwing or is it something that we just have to wait and see if they grow out of?

Mine have been doing it for awhile. One will start and then laugh, and then the other joins in. They will even look at me, hold a piece of food, and say "pass." I give them 2 chances, and then take their food away immediately otherwise, it will be on the floor for the dogs to clean up. Now they dump their milk or juice on the ground and then smile at me. They haven't outgrown this one yet, and they started around 18 months. Good luck!

Food throwing drives DH NUTS (more so than it does me). While we haven't found any solution, it does really help to give them just one or two pieces of food on their tray at a time. I usually do a meat/veggie "course" to start off lunch/dinner, then a fruit/bread "course".

Mine didn't do this to often but one thing that helped was giving them less food and if they threw it it got taken away. I didn't give any chances, whether they were just starting or finishing they lost the food. Now if they were just starting and they did it they lost their food but in about 30 to an hour if they seemed hungry I would try again but if they did it again it was gone until the next meal, at the end when I knew they ate some food they didn't get another try they had to wait till next meal.

I'm kind of inconsistent, but FWIW, I make a distinction depending on whether they're still eating. If food is thrown but they're mostly eating, I pretend I didn't notice, and clean it up later. If they have pretty much finished eating (or never started), I give them one more chance and then take the tray away and they are All Done.
