Lately I feel like I'm stuck in a food rut. I feed my girls the same things over and over again. They're good eaters and will eat much of what we do (still no salads or super spicy stuff), but I am just not feeling inspired. I'm hoping some of you out there can help me. What did your kids have for dinner tonight? Or what meals do you enjoy cooking for them (and/or for the whole family)?

    Thanks!

I use allrecipes.com alot for easy meals. I just search on something I think might be interesting and give it a try.

I use recipezaar.com alot. I like it because you can filter by ingredients.

Tonight we had leftovers. I made a "grown-up" mac & cheese.

    Here is the recipe:

1/2 a box of whole wheat pasta shells (a 13 oz box)
1 cup of shredded Asiago cheese
1/2 cup of shredded pecorino romano cheese
3/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 of a chub of ground sausage
    1 cup shredded carrots
    olive oil
    salt & pepper
    2 cups milk
    1/2 cup half & half
    5 TBS flour

Cook pasta shells according to package directions. Heat olive oil and cook carrots until tender. Add sausage and brown. Add butter and melt. Stir in flour to make a paste. Then add cold milk and half/half. Heat until bubbly and thick. Add Asiago and pecorino romano cheeses. Season with salt and pepper. Mix sauce and pasta together. Transfer to casserole dish and top with cheddar cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for~20 minutes.

We try new things a lot as well. If they don't eat it, fine. I try to make something that I know they will eat as a side or whatever, but I don't make anything else. I am not a short order cook. Sometimes Mattie goes to bed without eating anything and I worry, but she usually eats a great breakfast the next morning. :pardon:

For the first time, we had Broccoli soup and it was awesome! The girls loved it and ate every bite. It has lots of cheese in it and I got the recipe off of allrecipes.com. I'm with Rachel, it's an awesome site with loads of great recipes.
