First let me say both DD & DS are very healthy... though DS has a good 6 lbs on his sister (roughly 22 & 16 lbs). Pediatrican is not worried about our DD, she is just on the petite side. They were 6 weeks early, so DD is in the 25% for adjusted, and 10%ish for unadjusted (DS is about the 90th adj & 75th unadj). They both are good eaters, bottles and solids, but he eats quite a bit more, particularly the solids. Sometimes I feel bad when I keep shoveling food in my DS's mouth (I can't seem to feed him fast enough!), while my DD is more like a lady when she eats and takes her time. Even with the Mum Mum crackers, DS will eat 2 in the time it takes her to eat about half of one! I feel guilty sometimes that I don't try and feed her more... though I try and follow both of their cues when they are full. I know she's healthy and they are two different people, so I'm trying not to compare, but does anyone else ever feel guilty about one of your twins eating so much more (especially when the other one is on the smaller side)??

Oh yes! I feel this way every day! People ask me if the boys are identical and I have to say "yes, one just eats more than the other". Do you remember those cereal commercials where the two boys would make their brother Mikey try things before they would eat it? We jokingly call Ryan "Mikey" as in "Give it Mikey, he'll eat anything". Poor Jake has been 2lbs smaller than this brother since they left the NICU. It's just a fight to get him to eat anything that I'm fine with whatever he does wind up eating.

I think it's just fine. She's obviously just going to be smaller than your son & doesn't need quite so much to eat. You're right, they are two different kids & will likely always have different eating habits!

Mine have a 2 lb difference, with my dd being the heavier one and my ds the lighter one. She just eats more formula than him consistently, even though they are offered the same amount! There's not much I can do about it, except continue to offer it to ds and let him eat what he wants :)

One of my boys will eat a 1/2 a jar of food, while his "little" brother eats 1 1/2 jars. They are both growing well, and the pedi doesn't see a prob with it.

I feel bad that one seems not to eat as much, but then I remember no 2 kids are alike.

And some kids just eat more than others.

How do you feed your twins solids?? Right now my girls are 7 months old and eat about 4 tbsp of Cereal in the Morning and for Lunch 1 Jar (Shared Veggie) and 1/2 jar of Fruit (Shared) for Dinner 1 Jar ( Shared Veggie/Meat Combo) 1/2 Jar Fruit (Shared) and for snack before bed about 3 tbsp pf Cereal. 4 bottles of 8oz each throughout the day, sometimes they do not finish their bottles. I find it hard to feed them sometimes.. Should I feed them 1 Jar each and see how much each twin is eating. It seems to be working??

i have the same thing going on here, DS is a tank and will mow down any food in his path, he will cram handfuls of food in there. DD is just like your DD, much more ladylike, will only take another bite after she has thoroughly chewed and swallowed what was in her mouth, then she will consider it...

i don't feel bad about it really, i always wish that DD would eat a little more, but pp is right, they are just different babies and have different needs and styles. it is funny to watch though. [IMG]

So funny to see this. We were at a birthday party of a woman in our twins group today, four of us said the same thing. One eats more then the other, we all feel bad, but all the pedi's say not to compare them so we are trying to get over it! Just wanted to let you know you aren't alone.

PS I am new to the site how do you get the age tree and pictures on?
