I gained 50 lbs total with the twins. :good: I pretty much was gaining about a lb a week until the end when I did gain a bit more. I had no cravings/favorite foods when pregnant with them... well, ice cream but I always crave that. Just eat as healthy as you can and remember to give into temptation every so often ;) 18lbs at 14 weeks doesn't sound too bad to me. I'm sure your doctor will let you know if he's concerned. I was like you describe at the beginning of this pregnancy... eating all the time. And I had a big weight gain the first trimester but now I'm eating normal again and weight gain has slowed up a bit. :good: Try not to stress over it too much, everyone gains differently.

I think they say a pound a week is pretty average? So you're close to that. As long as you are healthy and eating what your body tells you, I don't think you can go wrong!

edited to add that I gained 35 lbs and delivered at almost 32 weeks. All of that weight gain was second trimester bc I threw up so much the first trimester. I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight (and size) within 3 or 4 days of birth. Twins really do require a lot of calories.

I gained at least 35 lbs, but stopped paying attention to my weight checks after that so I don't know how much I gained total. As others have said, as long as you're listening to what your body needs & eating healthy foods, you will gain the right amount for you.

I gained 50 lbs. I gained faster earlier on then slowed in the third trimester before delivery at 38 weeks. I ate a lot during my pregnancy... I was sooo hungry. But at 130lbs and 5ft 7in I was a shade on the smaller side so I could stand to gain more. I am now at 134 3 months post-partum so I figure I can get it all off.

I gained about 45 lbs total, although I am not sure exactly how much I weighed at the end because I couldn't see the scale anymore! I agree with the pp's to eat healthy food when you're hungry. Lots of regular small meals so your blood sugar stays consistent and you're good!

I gained just about 60 lbs overall at my delivery at 38 weeks 2 days. I followed loosely the recommendations of Dr. Luke's book and was happy to have healthily gained a good amount of weight. I gave birth to nice, big, healthy babies so for me I felt like it was a success and I lost all of my baby weight by the time that they were 8 or 9 months old. I lost the bulk of it during the first month or two actually.

I really recommend not worrying about your weight gain so long as you are generally eating in a healthy way and you are feeling good. I agree with pps that your doctor will certainly tell you if there's something to worry about :)

I gained a bunch. I think about 70 pounds by the end but I just stopped looking at the scale. I, too, followed Dr. Luke's book and my boys were born very near term (2 days shy of 38 weeks). My little guy was only 5lbs 7oz, though, so I'm really happy that I kept on feeding him.

Honestly, I didn't worry about gaining too much. I only worried about getting too few nutrients into them.

I gained a total of 55 lbs, 18 lbs in the first trimester. I was constantly hungry, especially at the beginning. I ate a lot of protein (mostly eggs) which helped the babies deposit fat, and a lots of bran product (which - in theory - helped their brain development). The boys were 38 weekers, 6.15 lbs and 5.7 lbs.
I did not care about gaining weight...and it came off eventually.

I gained so much with both pregnancies. Around 75 lbs with the twins and 50 with my 2nd pregnancy. But you know what? I had 3 healthy babies, 3 very easy vaginal deliveries and today I have 3 extremely healthy and active children. I've never had any morning sickness. My first symptom of pregnancy was ravenous hunger both times.

I think the weight gain recommendation is just that, a recommendation, and is not right for all women. After I had the twins I lost all the pregnancy weight and am in the process of losing it again this time. Eat when you are hungry and worry about the number on the scale after the babies are born.

I gained 48lbs by the time they were born at 38w3d but was actually told to gain more . I started out at 122lbs and am 5'7" and lost a bit in the 1st trimester because of morning sickness. I just ate when I was hungry and tried not to worry about gaining too much/too little. I lost it all by the time they were 5 months old. As long as you're listening to your body and eating healthy food you'll be fine!

Well I'm 22 weeks and have gained 23 lbs so far. I was worried too, but my doctor said it was fine. Just don't go overboard. I told her I was eating healthy, normal portioned meals (with some splurges here and there) and she said that is what my body needed to gain then. I just wasn't expecting to pile it on so quickly, which I think was the shocking part for me so far.

I gained a total of 38 pounds. Everything I ate made me sick, in the beginning it was nausea and towards the end it was nausea and heartburn :). Ginger ale helped with that and also raw carrots, and my favorite - icecream :). I don't think I gained much in the first 10-12 weeks. I was only able to eat enough not to starve, but I wasn't able to eat too much at a time, so I was nibbling on stuff during the day. I was eating regular meals but small portions. I always had a big bag of mini carrots at work in the fridge, also pretzels or saltines helped. I also drank a lot of water, and I think that helped me a lot. My babies were born at 37 weeks and 5 days, they were 6#5 oz each and I lost the weight in less than 2 months. Good luck with your pregnancy.
