I am kind of at a loss as to what they should be eating. They take 4 bottles a day and have 3 meals. I really want to drop one of those bottles and replace it with a snack. But what kind of snack?? People food? Baby food?

They have a breakfast of oatmeal with (baby food) fruit and yogurt. I usually try to make lunch something they have to chew...like the Stage 3 foods that have tender pieces of pasta or meat, but they get frustrated trying to chew with just 2 teeth each! Dinner is a container of veggies and a container of fruit. They love cheerios and puffs, so put some of those on their tray while I'm fixing the meal.

I figured out everything else these last 9 months, put I'm really unsure about what they should be eating. It's no help that I hate to cook and let DH do all of it!

I"m in the exact same boat. I think they'll drop the bottle when ready - which seems to be when they eat more food. Lyla is a great solid eater and Sophie is not. Sophie eats 30-35 oz/day - kid can eat! Lyla's 2 lbs bigger but just started taking less bottle. Today, Lyla ate 25 oz to Sophie's 25 oz but ate 2 things of squash, a ton of yogurt for lunch and a big bowl of oatmeal w/ pears. Sophie was offered the exact same - she just takes so much less of it. So from my perspective, it seems like when they start eating more and more of the real food, the bottles drop off.

I still gave Lyla 4 but I may try to hold off on #3 and just give her bedtime bottle.

    Good luck!

This is what we were doing for bottles and meals at 9 months:
    6:00 wake
    6:30 bottle (8 oz.)
    7:15 cereal with fruit
    9:00 nap
    12:00 bottle (8 oz.)
    12:30 fruit and veggie
    1:00 nap
    4:30 meat combo meal
    6:00 bottle (8 oz.)
    6:30 bed

The meals I gave were all baby food. I would give my girls some Puffs, Cheerios, bananas, etc. occasionally but they were not big eaters until the formula was gone.

Just remember that the formula is their most important nutrition right now. I wouldn't drop quantity of formula without consulting the pedi first. My girls were drinking 24 oz. forever and we were told to keep up at least 20 oz. until they were off formula.

When we went from 4 to 3 bottles the bottle they dropped was the mid-morning one first but that wasnt until at least 11 months or so.

    We do three meals
    1) cereal, fruit
    2) cereal, fruit veggie
    3) cereal, veggie, "dinner" or yogurt (Something with more protein)

And we do three bottles at waking, before afternoon nap, and before bed. We have started puffs, cheese, mashed up bananas. I think they'd prefer to eat cereal all meals, all the time. They love it.

Mine aren't good bottle eaters, so i cant' help you there. We are doing lots of people food though! B doesn't have any teeth yet and M only has one but it hasn't been an issue. I"m pretty much cooking regular veggies and dumping them one their trays in little chunks. Here's what we've been doing:
    7- bottle
8- yogurt with fruit, cheerios, banana pancakes (pancake batter dipped banana slices cut up)
12- snack-- usually a fruit or veggie (avocado, pears, kiwi, banana, sweet potato, carrots, peas) and cheese, cheerios or puffs
    1- bottle
4:30- Dinner-- pasta with cheese and veggies has been a favorite lately. I try to do one "meal" type item and a veggie and a fruit. Tonight we did cheerios and avocado while I cooked up small sea shell pasta. I mixed that with a little cheese and peas. They had a pear for dessert.
    6:30- bottle and bed

They're not getting enough bottle but they're just not interested!

9 months was just one month ago for us... and I did a mixture of people food and baby food. (Now at 10 months we are doing pretty much all people food.)

    Some stuff I fed them:
    - peas (just bought frozen and nuked in the microwave)
    - avocado cubes
    - scrambled or over medium eggs
    - low sodium goldfish crackers
    - small bites of toast with unsalted butter and jam
    - baby spaghetti (homemade pasta sauce without salt, blended up, with alphabet pasta)
    - macaroni and cheese (cook the pasta for longer)
    - chicken
    - cheerios
    - raisins (I put them in warm water to make them softer)
    - blueberries (wear dark clothes because they stain)
    - small bites of french toast (whole wheat bread dipped in batter made of egg, milk, vanilla & cinnamon)

Really I'm just feeding them whatever we're having, cut up small. Just don't add salt to their food, other herbs & spices are fine.
