I went food shopping and decided NOT to buy anymore baby food. I really dont like that crap and I am tired of fighting the spoon away from the girls or getting annoyed with them because they wont open their mouths.
So I am doing all finger foods but the last 2 meals my girls decided they 'dont like' what I have given them even though they loved this stuff (chicken, mango, green beans, ravioli) the other day. It seems all they want to eat is carrots and grilled cheese and cheerios.

Is this another one of those lovely phases??

And whats with throwing the food on the ground?? Sofie does this and it makes me crazy! It doesnt matter if she wants to eat it or not, she throws everything on the floor, and its not a game because she can see I am angry and whines/cries when I say NO.

i have no advice for you, but my girls are the same way. just today i was eating some pasta and the girls (my beggers) were all over me, so i gave them a bite and they were like, "mmmm!!!!" and dancing around cuz they liked it so much. so i gave them some for THEIR lunch, and they whined, marina shook her head, ivana wouldn't open her mouth. WTH?

question: what do you give them for breakfast? (i need ideas)

Very, very normal!!!! I normally tried, and still do, to give one meal I know they will eat and then the rest they get what they get and thats it!
You will find this phase does not go away anytime soon :pardon: This is when it is important to remember you are the mom and know what is good for them and you have them time to teach them what is healthy and not.

The throwing will continue for a while longer, but not too long. And I highly suggest being tough about this one. Give them 2-3 chances and then the trays go away, they will learn much faster :D

The food throwing is still going on around here. It drives me INSANE! I have found that if we eat with them, they will eat better and less food throwing but it doesnt stop it all the time.

I would still continue to introduce new foods. Hopefully its a short phase and they will go back to trying new things. Because once we hit 18 months nobody in this house likes anything except the typical toddler food-chicken nuggets! Good luck!

We are not into the throwing food phase...yet...so I am no help. Anthony is more of my picky eater...where he will put the food in his mouth and I will slowly watch it slide off his tongue as he sticks it out.

    As for breakfast:
    waffles
    pancakes
    french toast
    nutrigrain bars
oatmeal/mixed grain cereal(trying to use the last of it up)
    cheerios
    scrambled eggs
    peaches
    applesauce
    bananas
    yogurt
    pears

That's about it! I've tried toast-but that didn't fly with them...

    What she said!! ;)

I tried nutrigrain bars the other day and they werent interested but that kind of goes along with their little attitudes these past few days.

    They love:
    pancakes
    french toast
    regular toast with butter
    english muffin with cream cheese
    scrambled egg yolks with cheese
    just about any fruit
quaker oatmeal (peaches & cream or apple cinnamon)
    yobaby
cottage cheese with baby food peaches mixed in
    cheerios/kix

    We havent tried waffles yet.

Breakfast is the easiest meal around here, its lunch and dinner I have a tough time with because I am such a picky eater.

Mine don't throw their food on the ground (yet) but they slam the sippy cup to the floor. I think they like the sound it makes. When they throw their sippy I just keep it, they must not be thirsty.

I hope it is just a phase. My girls are in a weird phase where they'll eat anything I put on their tray. (Not complaining)

I hope this is just a phase!

Mine love to throw their sippy on the floor, I scrambled some egg yolks for them in the AM yesterday and they looked at me like I was feeding them rat poison. Oy!

I feel so fortunate that DD is a good eater and has not started throwing everything on the floor (yet). DS lives to throw food as far as possible. I try to give them at least one thing/meal that I know they will eat, even if I have to spoon feed them. They will always eat yogurt, bananas and toast.

I'm having a LOT of trouble with getting protein into their diet. We don't eat a lot of meat and often not for dinner. I can't believe they both like peas and lima beans though. Go figure.

We've been off the jar food for a bit, but I still keep a couple jars around just in case they are too tired to feed themselves dinner. Grits are a good option for that situation too.

Good luck! It sure makes meal time much easier when they feed themselves!!
