Still struggling with the texture/table food issue, although I did try the YoBaby yogurt and it's a hit.

So, can those of you whose babies still eat baby food share with me how much your kids eat?

I know it varies from baby to baby, but I just want to get a general idea.

    Thanks so much!!

Mine even varies from twin to twin! Here's about what we do:

6 or 7 am--8 oz bottle (almost completely on milk now)
8:30-9 am--Each get cereal mixed with juice and yogurt...about the size as a jar of stage 2 baby food, maybe a bit more.
11:30 or 12--Each get a jar of stage 2 and a jar of fruit, or share a jar of stage 3 and a jar of fruit each
    3:00-ish--8 oz. bottle
    5:30-6--Same as lunch
7 or 7:30--small amount of solids (about size of a jar split between them)..been using Beechnut Goodnight Whole Grain Cereal to help tide them over all night
    7:30 or 8--8 oz bottle.

We also give them snackies here and there during the day, unsalted saltine crackers are my favorite right now because they're WAY cheaper than the puffs or wagon wheels!

My daughter is less into the Stage 3 food (she seems iffy about texture), whereas sometimes my son can eat the whole jar AND a thing of fruit in one sitting. FYI, he's at least 7 lbs heavier too...We've been trying to do a sippy w/ the sit down meals too...I recently have been wondering if they're getting enough fluids since we've elimnated 1-2 bottles....eek! And then I read on here how people are already 100% on table foods and I wonder if I'm behind the times....but I've just got to do what works for us, and we're slowly making the transition to the table foods!

I just wanted to echo that we are very slowly moving to table foods. On a good night, my two will split 6 4oz glass jars of baby food (either store bought, or stuff I've made and loaded into the jars). At dinner, they get 4-5 vegetable and 1-2 fruits (jars I'm talking about). At lunch maybe 4 jars of either fruits or fruits and vegetables. Breakfast every day is 2 4oz jars of organic whole milk yogurt. I set these up in the morning. I mix cereal into them. Then another 2-3 jars of fruits. I also ofter whole milk organic cream cheese at meals and this is often popular at the end of a meal.

For snacks during the day the children get fresh peach, banana, or cheddar cheese.

My two are so skinny that I"m reluctant to let them self-feed because most of it will probably end up on the floor!

My girls never got onto stage 3 foods. They went from stage 2 to table food BUT we were doing stage 2 for a while. They never ate much at meals until we went to milk instead of formula. For the longest time they were eating (total between the two of them) 2 tbsp. cereal with one container of fruit for breakfast, 1 veg and 1 fruit for lunch, and 2 jars stage 2 chicken and apples for dinner. At 11 months they were also getting small pieces of fruit, Puffs, Cheerios.

Mine have recently started eating more (they're 11.5 mos but 10 mos adjusted) but we're probably on the lower side of the consumption level:

bkfst is about 1 4 oz jar of fruit t - we do organic and there's one that has fruits and a whole grain, if it's just fruit I'll mix it with rice or oatmeal - and about 2-3 oz of yogurt for bkfst (plus some cheerios to give them something to do w/their hands). We've started with pieces of apple (which they love and seem to be great for their gumming habit) and orange which they tend to shove in and suck on and discard the outside of. I also usually make 1 whole grain waffle or piece of toast and put some butter on it (and some maple syrup if i'm feeling particularly sweet!) which they split....cut into strips a lot of it ends up on the floor for the dog but they seem to really like chewing.

Lunch is 1 4oz of veg - occasionally 1and a half, and 1 of fruit (this is SPLIT between them) and some protein - usually cheese because that's a favourite around here!

Dinner is generally the same although I try to add something else; they seem to love hummus, which is hilarious - babies with garlic breath!

We also just went to two snacks/day as they seemed hungry and i'd like to start transitioning from bottles but they don't seem to be on board with that! I generally give them fresh fruit, a saltine or other cracker, a pretzel and, of course CHEESE (I swear it seems like we can't go a meal without it; shredded, cubed, in quesadillas, grilled cheese, it's Cheese-o-Rama around here!

I'm trying to get them on more table foods (they STARE at whatever anyone is eating); they love eating the veggies and tofu from take-out thai or anything with lots of flavor.

All I can say is that the increase in poop production is commensurate with the increase in solids: they used to be my 1x/day Poopers and now- well, it's more than that!

This is almost exactly what I was going to type out. They didn't eat that much until I dropped their 4pm bottle about 2 weeks ago. I was waiting for them to drop it all on their own, but they didn't so I cut it out and they increased the amount of food they'd eat at each meal. Also we didn't do stage 3. I tried it and they HATED it... and my girls have never met a piece of food they don't like  So I started giving them table food and everyone is happier for it. Plus I think its cheaper.

:rotflmbo: To both statements above. Ana will pick out every piece of cheese on her tray to eat before she eats anything else! And poop... OMG the poop... and the smell. Ug! When can they potty train?!

CHEESE!!!! Maybe that will be the magic food that gets them to eat table foods. Why haven't I thought of this before?

Thanks for the info...I feel much better.

On a poop-related side note...ever since we added the yogurt - OMG!!!

Ok, after reading, OMG MY KIDS ARE PIGS!! Breakfast is usually 8 oz of solids for DS, 4milk and 4 solid for DD. Then of course whatever I'm eating, half goes to them- waffles, cereal, toast, bagel. Bottles mid morning and then a nap. When they wake, it's lunch time- which takes FOREVER, but they love to feed themselves. THey're learning and getting entertainment at the same time. Lunch is usually a variety of ham, the ever-popular cheese, puffs, fruits, crackers, and some yogurt. Griffin will sometimes consume 12-14 oz at a time! And he isn't very big at all! But he's soo active. I actually cut him off from food one day..I thought he might pop! They are sometimes eating every 2 and a half hours, especially after a milk bottle. I chalk it up to not really knowing how much they are getting with the table food, but they are so much happier that I don't even care..I'll just keep feeding! ha ha

They are a bit younger than the others, they are 10 months, 8.5 adjusted..They won't eat stage three, even though Ella has 6 teeth! They are loving the table food though..Oh, and yes, I just said to my father-in-law today, WOW- the poop is unreal! I feel bad for any animal attempting to eat our trash! LOL It was so bad today, 3 yankee candles and lysol couldn't cover it up!! For Real! :icon_eek: :icon_eek:
