Last time we flew we didn't take a stroller and just put the girls in the Bjorns. This was because DH's family was able to borrow carseats. This time they are having trouble finding two car seats so we may bring the double sng. DH is afraid the airline will give us a hard time about gate checking it since technically its 3 pieces. So I told him I'd come on here and get the scoop from the experts. What has your experience been? Did they make you take it apart to send thru security separately? Thanks!!! -Leighann

ps: we are off to the pedi this afternoon- still have fevers, with lots of snot and now a cough. I really hope this clears up by Monday since I don't want them to be miserable on the plane.

My twins aren't here yet but I'm curious about this as well.

we flew to Mexico on Frontier and didn't have a problem. I actually didn't know there was a limit to the amount you could gate check...

MWS described exactly what we did, and we had no problems. Getting through security was the worst part of the whole trip, but only because of the equipment juggling. We carried one baby in a sling and were allowed to go through the x-ray that way. The other guy was in the stroller and we did have to send that and the seat through separately. In Portland, there was actually extra staff available to help with all of this.

No issues at all with the stroller on United. You might call and check whichever airline you're flying.

Thanks everyone for your *extremely* helpful replies!!! I will call northwest this weekend to make sure it won't be a problem to gate check it.

We'll see if we are still going though.. leaving for the pedi in an hour because the girls are still sick. My poor pumpkins have been sick since sunday, but the sweet girls that they are, they are trying their best to be their wonderful flirty playful selves.

I'm trying to be very zen about it and its hard because I'm a hard-core planner control freak.

    Thanks again everyone!!!

I flew United a couple weeks ago and my sister and I checked the Double Snap-n-Go and the 2 carseats at the gate. We did struggle going through security because we had to take them out of their seats, put each seat through and break down the stroller and put it through. I'd recommend taking a baby bjorn with you and putting one of them in it so you have some free hands, but if you don't have one of those (which we didn't bring with us), hope that the person behind you is kind enough to lend a hand. FYI... security personnel cannot help - I learned this.

When you get to the gate, ask them to tag all 3 items and then you just drop all 3 off at the end of the terminal ramp.

Oh, if you've never flown before with them, be sure to feed them at takeoff and landing (landing is actually more important!) - pacifiers work too as long as they're sucking on something. I made the mistake of not waking them at landing to get them to suck on something and they screamed for the next 3 days. We took them in to see the doctor and found out that their ears were red and swollen and we had to start them on antibiotics.

Good luck and have a safe trip!

**One more thing... when you check in, ask if you need a boarding pass for the babies. We got stopped at security and had to go back to get boarding passes for them... I was so irrate because they were both screaming and we had to wait in line twice at ORD.

We flew to Ireland Aerlingus and checked it in by the door of the plane, the belt ties right around it to keep it otgether we never had any problems!! Got it right away when we got off.

We called TSA before we left and we were told that a carseat and a stroller count as one piece of checked luggage. So you can "double dip." Have a great trip and I hope the girls turn the corner soon for you.

Our twins took their 15th flight on Thursday. We've never had ANY problem checking double snap n go and two car seats. We've traveled USAirways, American, and Airtran. No one has even said one word about it. Most people are very helpful and the security folks sometimes set up the stroller for us. If the line is long and I have the time, I'll suggest to the business travellers with one bag that they pass ahead of us as it takes a while to unload everything on to the belt at security.

Our 16th flight is tomorrow and I don't expect to have any trouble. I always ask very nicely at the gate whether the flight is full and on several occasions they have permitted the car seats on the plane even tho we haven't paid to bring them on.

Anyway, it worked out okay for us.

    Good luck on your travels!
