Has anyone tried to fly with thier double jogging stroller? Where we are headed the jogging stroller would really be best; mountains, hills, dirt roads, etc. I would like to gate check the stroller, but the stroller won't fit through the x-ray machine at security. What happens in that case? Should I even try it?

We've flown several times with our double jogger - last time was in April. This is what you do:
    1. Kids have to remove shoes and walk through detector.
    2. Take everything from baskets and put through x-ray machine.
    3. They will instruct you to send the stroller through the side door. Then they'll hand check and run swabs over all surfaces (tests for explosive residue).
    4. You'll get your stroller back in the area where passengers are putting their shoes back on.

It's never been an issue or fight with airport security.

The PP's suggestions are great. They handle wheelchairs the same way so it's something they are practiced at. During my recent flight there were several passengers with wheelchairs and one jogging stroller and it didn't seem to slow things down at all. Have fun!!!

Yep, the PP is right. It's not an issue. We have traveled with our about a year ago, and are planning on taking it again in a month. You will be fine!!

Don't worry about it. They will just check it by hand. We flew out of a airport that the combi sbs did not fit through the x-ray machine. It was not a problem.
