My MIL passed away this morning. We would rather fly than drive as the drive is 36+ hours (without babies). Does anyone know if a baby with a Grade II brain bleed can fly?

    Thanks!

That's a question that your pedi should probably answer- however, my daughter has a large subarachnoid cyst and I was worried she wouldn't be able to ever fly and her neuro said she'd be fine.

I am sure there's moms that could answer this- but I would also check with your pedi. SOrry to hear of your MIL passing.

I also would check with pedi(and or neuro) to be 100% sure, I can tell you my son had a grade IV bleed(worst you can have) and at his repeat head sono at 2 1/2 months it was resolved and completely absorbed so I would guess that by 5months the bleed should be resolved and not an issue, but I would definintely check with your pedi(and or neuro) as each case and cause of bleed and child is different.

Sorry to hear about your MIL [IMG]

Last time we had an ultrasound, her bleed had not resolved but had not gotten any bigger. She shows no signs of any problems from it, but I would hate for it to get worse. UGH! All of this after my FIL died while I was pregnant and unable to go to the funeral, my husband found out his job is being eliminated the end of March, and he is being tested because they think he has MS. What a nightmare!!

You should check with your pedi, but at four months old the fontanelles are still open allowing for an increase in intracranial pressure (from blood fluid etc), however, I am assuming the the grade II bleed is from the first few days after birth so it is not active, I think you should be fine. Sorry to hear abot you MIL, Tracy

[IMG] UGH! You do have a lot to deal with right now how hard for you. Does she have a pediatric neuro that you could call and ask or even maybe one of the neonatologists at NICU she was at?
