I haven't flown with a child in about a year, we are about to move from OR to VA & I will have my 5wk old twins & 19mth old DS. How should I do the bottle thing, I currently BF but they can take formula too. I prob won't be able to BF both on the plane but I could bring EBM or formula for some of the feedings. How do they now let you bring liquids for babies on the plane? Will they even let me bring the EBM? I would do the formula in powder form to mix on the plane. What a pain in the a** to even have to think how you're going to be able to feed an infant on a plane. Thanks for any info, wish us luck!

I took Cody when he was 2 weeks old. I was BF him at the time, but took powder formula & empty bottles with me. When they saw us the first thing they asked me was if I had any breast milk or liquid formula. They said they would have to dump it if I did. After you cross security, you will need to go buy a bottle of water that you can use to make the powdered formula. You can ask at the shop for room temp water.

When we went again at 6 months, I was allowed to bring the little gerber juice bottle with me. It was only 3 onces & it had to be in a ziploc baggie.

Hopefuly the kiddos will sleep most of the trip for you. I nursed Cody at take off & then he slept the entire flight. That is one good thing about that age.
    They like to sleep.

You can take EBM, formula, and juice.

Click for TSA link for the government regulations online.

Yep I took EBM and nurseretts of formula in February. We Breastfed on plane and in the airport.

Good luck....will you be traveling alone or will you have help?

Beware they will seperate you on the plane, I wasn't too happy about that....call ahead and make sure they know the ages of your little ones and how many adults are in your party.

I had no problem bringing already made bottles on the plane with us. I just kept them(the filled bottles along with extra ready to feed formula) in a separate zip lock bag and showed the guards when I went through security. Good luck!

I didn't have any problems bringing already made bottles on the plane. Once, they did look at them at security, but the other time, I just put my diaper bag right through and they didn't say anything. We did have to break down the snap and go stroller and put it through the x-ray machine, along with the carseats.

I've always taken powered formula measured in the bottles and then bought water after going thru security. But I believe they allow a 'reasonable amount' of liquid formula or BM to go thru. We've never had problems going thru security with the girls. People have been very nice and patient (and this was in a major NY airports!). Just take all baby-related liquids/creams out of the diaper bag and send it through the scanner separately. GL with your trip!
