    Hello All,

I am getting ready to embark on a 24 hour trip with my twin daughter. I am flying home to Michigan to collect my grandfather who wants to come and visit me in Australia. Due to flying by myself, I could only travel with one toddler, although I would have loved to take both of them. Anyhoo...

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can keep her amused?

I have heard of taking dum dums and suckers, post-it notes to stick and unstick (I think I read that here!), and was thinking of trying to find a mini etch a sketch.

Thanks for your ideas and wish me luck!!!

Some of my sitting in the doctors office or whatever little things are:

The little puzzle shapes ball (even very young we did it together...I would turn the ball and show them where to put the shape, and help them....)
A mini magna doodle (much easier than an etch a sketch for a child)
    colors and a coloring book
little windup toys that do funny things (you can try and use the tray in front of you?)
matchbox cars (even my girls liked to drive things on mom's legs...or the floor, or wherever)

That's all I have for the moment...if I come up with something else, I'll be back!

We just flew to Disney with our 2o month olds it was rough!!!! and that was only a 2 hour flight but it was at 7.30pm and that is their bedtime, I had crayons, stickers, magna doodle I bought it in Target for $5 they played with it quite a bit coming back. Did you buy her a seat mine sat between me and a friend, we didnt buy her a seat..We are travelling to Ireland for Thanksgiving an 8 hour flight and I am dreading the thought of it :  .But one thing I am going to bring is a portable DVd player my girls are obsessed with Curious George and I will play it over and over again if I have to, might be worth investing in one!!! I didn't bring it to Florida with me... all I can sayis good luck..

Ugh, We've got a long flight next month as well. I am dreading it! I've heard stickers are good-just sticking them to paper or a sticker book. I've heard the mini magna doodles are great. We will definitely be bringing the portable dvd too. Last flight ours did really well w/ board books as well. We only have 3 seats for the 4 of us, mom, dad and twins so I'm worried about that too. I have a feeling we will be spending some time walking up and down the aisle. One of our girls is VERY active.

I tried suckers on the airplane and it was a huge mess, but with lots of wipes....a good idea for landing!

Kate told us about pipe cleaners and cheerios. You cannot believe how long they will do that. Then they eat them! (Apple or color cheerios are fun if they don't normally get them...)

You'll probably spend some time doing laps around the plane. Just know that! Also, if you have a DVD player that's good and color wonder markers!

Benadryl backfired (don't know if you are considering it or not....just telling you my experience) on us when traveling. Made them more alert rather than sleepy. They'll sleep some too on their own. So that's good!

Pack your sense of humor and extra patience!

Difficult age, very active ... DVD player is my must item. Get an extra battery or have a plug for an outlet (depending on airline). I couldn't have survived all the flights without it!

It sounds strange but...character band aids. Like stickers but not as fragile and it takes longer to get them open. The color wonder markers are great for travel since it doesn't matter if they color off the edges of the paper. Bring way more wipe than you think you'll need too!

Thank you all for the wonderful ideas!

I am definitely going out to buy the color wonder markers, stickers, mini maga doodle, etc.

I am compiling my list as we speak!

And, yes, I must remember to pack my little bit of extra patience! I just hope the people we are sitting next to have packed a bit of theirs :)

Thanks again for the great ideas!
