Yesterday and today I have noticed that in the afternoon I seem to have a increase in discharge/moisture. It only seems to be after I have been on my feet for a while, but I feel wet, most of the time. I tried smelling the toilet paper last time and it definately has an odor. I feel like I should be worried, but I don't want to be paranoid. What experience does everyone have.

I know when I am on my feet a lot my bladder doesn't hold out very well and I start leaking a little urine. ;) TMI sorry.

My OB said if I started having more discharge than normal and/or it has an odor to call him and get checked out just to be sure. So, you may want to call your Dr just to be safe.

Keep us updated on how things are going. It's hard to not worry or be paranoid when you are pregnant. :hug99: Anytime anything is just a little off I get completely paranoid.

Definately call your doc...it's best to be safe. I leaked fluid with the twins and turns out it was amniotic fluid, but within a few hours it clearly broke (as I was walking into the hospital...fun, fun!) So, it could be a lot of things but it's not worth the risk to guess...so call your doc. I hope everything is okay. keep us posted.

p.s. You are talking to the most neurotic pregnant person ever...so don't feel bad about being paranoid!!!!
    Good luck!!

I hope it's nothing, but I would definitely call and at least have them check you out. It never hurts to be over-cautious when you are pregnant. Please keep us updated!

If it has an odor it probably is urine. But better to be safe than sorry....and call your doctor or get checked out soon.

Last time around when that happened to me my dr had asked if the edges of the stain it the discharge left on my underwear were slightly darker and if yes that was ok. I know it sounds strange but for her that made the difference. I would have it checked out if I were you. Just to make sure it's not amniotic fluid. I had done a simple test where they placed a piece of paper to get it a little moist and from how the colour of the strip of paper changed they could tell it wasn't amniotic fluid. Maybe your body is just telling you to start taking it easy?

Well, I called the doc yesterday afternoon when I got to work. They nurse told me that she doubted it was anything, but that she wanted me to stop into L&D on my way home from work at 8. SO I called DH and had him make sure his parents could take the girls. We dropped them off and went in. They put me in a room and and had me leave a urine sample and they hooked me up to all the machines. She did the swab with the paper and it turned blue, not the bright blue that means its obvious, but it turned a shade of blue. So she wasn't real sure what to do so she went and called my doctor. He told her to come back and do a internal exam and do a fern test. So she came back and did that and sent it to the lab, then we had to wait 45 minutes to get those results. At that point, I was freaking out pretty good. While they did that she came back and tested the urine which was showing a positve 2 on protien, which isn't like me at all. Anyway, she finally came back and the fern test came back negative. I was told to just watch it and come back if it stayed the same and I felt something wasn't right or if it increased.

So here is where I am confused. They said last night, that usually if the paper test comes back with any color at all it usually means there is fluid leaking, but the fern test came back normal. If I am laying down I don't leak anything, but once I am up and moving, I am definately damp. To me it would seem like if it were disharge, it would happen even laying down. They said if it still doesn't feel right to come back and they could do further testing. So, I guess I just don't know what to do next. DO I just wait and she if it turns into something more?

If you still have questions I would call the dr and find out. It is best to get those questions answered, they would know better than anyone. Good luck.

It could still be that you are leaking urine whenever you stand b/c of the pressure the baby puts on your bladder. The other thing that might help you feel more calm...is that even IF it were your amniotic fluid leaking a little many times the sac will re-seal itself. Also the body continues to make fluid, so your baby isn't "dry".... And back in the "good ole" days no one did anything about delivering the baby even when the sac ruptured completely...nature was allowed to take it's course. Most moms will go into labor within 24 hours...but many can wait weeks without a problem...the body keeps making fluid. In rare cases, yes infection could develop...but most of the time only if vaginal exams are done repeatedly. Obviously, you want to keep tabs on any other signs you might be having, but a little leaking amniotic fluid may not be as bad of a sign as what you would think. IF you are leaking at all.... it could very well be that it's just urine since the ph test came back somewhat non-conclusive...and the fern test came back negative... When is your next appointment? hopefully your baby will move a bit for you and lay off the bladder if that's what it really is. Oh you know...the other thing....some babies have 2 sacs.... I'm convinced 100% that Julianna did. So it's possible for an outer sac to rupture, causing leaking...and for the inner sac to still be fine.

    Suzanna,

THanks for all the info, I feel better hearing all that. DH and I have decided to just let things ride out over the weekend and see if it gets worse or other symptoms show up. But I must say that reading your post put my mind at ease a little.

Oh ya, my next appt isn't unitl March 18.

did your doctor ever call you back or anything?? I know when I had to go into L&D for bleeding at 11 weeks, I was glad that at least my doc called to check up on me since I hadn't seen her at L&D. It'd be nice if you could talk to your actual doc and have the results confirmed...so that you make sure you feel like you have a conclusive answer from them... instead of feeling they just shuffled you out the door with a shrug and a "we'll see you March 18th."
