My DD and DS both for the flu shot Friday. They also had Dtap, bit they have had that several times before and not had a reaction.

Anyways, despite the tylenol I have been giving them every 4 hours, DD has a fever of almost 102. I hate to think what it would be without the tylenol.

At what point, should I be stopping by Urgent Care?

    Thanks

I couldnt find the answer on the internet, but I knew you ladies would know.

You can try alternating Motrin and Tylenol -- give them alternately every three hours, which helps a lot with a fever that won't come down.

It doesn't sound like it's an emergency if her fever isn't going above 102, but I would call the doctor first thing tomorrow morning.

Poor thing! Could it be something unrelated, and not a reaction to the shot?

Last month my kiddos got their final Dtap shot and the flu mist (instead of the shot) My daughter had a fever of 102 for a day or so and then was fine. I called their doctor to make sure that was normal as that had never happened before and they told me yes. I gave her motrin which helped A LOT!! Hang in there. :)

 I'm sorry about the fever! That's never fun. Hope you had an ok night, and how are things this morning?

Sounds normal to me. Mine always had a slight fever after shots.

I seem to recall the the Dtap reaction got worse with each additional shot. I think it's the way the immune system reacts when it already has antibodies to the previous shot. I don't think the flu shot is known for causing a fever but the FluMist (nose spray vaccine) might since it's a live virus. I really hope her fever goes away very soon.
