I was going to post and see if anyone had any suggestions! Both of the babies have the flu and my DS has an ear infection. We have antibiotics for the infection, but I didn't know if anyone had any suggestions on helping the babies sleep or to get rid of the fever and/or the congestion! It sucks when I don't feel good, but I really hate it when they don't feel good! We are back to the irregular sleeping habits from when they were newborns! Any suggestions would be helpful!

I would suggest using the bulb syringe to suck out their noses. I would also suggest saline drops and a humidifier. Tylenol would be good to reduce fever. I hope everyone is well soon .

I am a big fan of Motrin as a fever reducer. I think you can give it to kids 6 months and older, but am not sure on that. You might want to check with your ped on that. Do you have any baby Vicks? Again, I think you can use baby Vicks on kids older than 6 months, but might want to check on that too. We used that recently for a cold my kids had. We rubbed it on their chests and also on the bottom of their feet before bedtime and it made a bid difference. The bottom of the feet thing sounds weird, but I read it a Parents magazine and it seemed to work. I hope that everyone feels better soon.

I also really like Motrin for fever reducing. Also, if they are miserable you could call your pedi and ask about giving them Benedryl. I've never given it to mine but my SIL's pedi told her that she could give it to her baby.

I also would recommend Motrin over Tylenol and believe it is for 6 months and up. It will say on the side of the box. Other than that the bulb syringe/saline drops/humidifier, is about all you can do for them unfortunately. I hope they are feeling better soon.

My twin boy is in the same boat as yours. He is 10 days on antibiotics and doctor told me to give him Benedryl at night to help him to sleep better. since his nose is badly congested and there is nothing besides humidifier, saline and suction you can do about it, at least he gets good night sleep if i give him Benedryl.
Doctor told me his condition might last up to 2 weeks. "Great!"
Good luck to both of us

Thank you for all of the suggestions! I have been doing most of what was suggested so great minds think alike! Austin has been fever free since midnight and Alyssa has been fever free since 7:30 last night. Road to recovery it looks like!
