Hi all. I am not sure how you all do it alone with twins plus other kids at the beach, but it it NUTS with both boys wanting to run into the water as deep as possible  So I am researching those swim suits with floatations in them. Does anyone have those? I tried some cheapos from walmart just to see if they would even keep them on and like them. Well they did but I got the tank top style instead of the zip back style and the front float kept riding up into their mouths. but they did great and we all played in shoulder deep water with much less worry! My MIL mentioned one that grows with the kids and the floating things can come out one at a ttime until they dont need them? I dont think that will happen this year but worth mentioning. And any with a snap crotch to change diapers? Ihave not had to at the beach by myself yet, but I know it wil happen. So I always bring a few extra swim diapers.

    TIA and Happy Summer! :D

We found that all the swim suits rode up to their chins when we tried them. We switched to life jackets when they turned 3 & those worked really well for us. They are both swimming without them now.

thanks for your replies! and more to come! Those are what dd's preschool called bubbles. they are pretty much what is inside the floatable swimsuits :p But might be more comfy on that way than in the suit?

When I first was convinced by a friend to try the pool by myself with all 3, (5 yr old and 2 yr twins), I went to the store with every intention of buying the suits. I started comparing suits and life jackets. I bought the life jackets and what made my decision is that the life jackets are for up to 50 pounds (which is what my 5 yr old weighs) so they will last them probably for the next three summers. My only suggestion is make them wear them every time you swim, even if you have help, or they will fight about wearing them when you need them to. And make sure you get the ones with the strap between the legs, that's what really keeps them from riding up.

After looking at them all, we went with the life jackets too. Ours have lasted several years now, though my boys now know how to swim and only use them when we go out kayaking or boating.

My only other suggestion would be to take a CPR class. The most important piece of safety equipment!
