    Hi friends,

DH and I are flying from VA to UT in a week with our 19 month-old sons Asher and Soren. We haven't flown in a year so it will be an adventure with older kids and bulkier gear. I was hoping to get ideas and recommendations for snacks and toys to keep them entertained while on the flight. What have you done to keep your littles occupied while flying? Thanks so much!

I think we are going to try and get some portable DVD players for our boys for our next trip, when they are just over 2. Other than that, any non-messy snacks like puffs, wagon wheels, dried fruit, etc. might be good. I would try to keep the processed sugar low so they don't have a sugar-induced melt-down. For mine, I will make sure I have at least 2 full bottles of water plus their sippies so I can refill. If they have any small favorite toys, maybe try to sneak them away during naptime a week or so before the flight, then bring them out on the flight so they are "like new" again.

Good luck. Hope your flight goes smoothly! :)

I usually go to trader joe's before we fly and get the chew fruit. My girls love it and it is a treat on the plane that also helps with their ears.
Color wonder markers /pad are great. No mess. Did you get them seats or are they lap babies?

Teddy grahams or goldfish crackers for snacks. Books, DVD player, travel magna doodle for fun. GL and have a nice flight!

Trader Joes' also makes some freeze dried fruits (i.e. blueberries, pineapple, strawberries, bananas, etc.) that are great snacks. They're easy to eat and NON-messy! Whole Foods also has organic lollipops. We found that lollipops help with the change in air pressure (or you can have them drink out of their sippies/straw cups). Bringing new books are also great entertainment.
