I'm looking for a fleece jacket for the babies - thin enough for the carseat, but warm enough for winter errand running. I found this, but it's only online. I wondered if it's worth ordering, it would be such a pain to pay for shipping and then have to return them. Just wondered if anyone had anything similar. I figure it's a good brand (known for being warm, right?) and I liked that it had a hood and built in gloves. I checked out the Old Navy fleece and it just didn't seem warm enough. But not seeing this in person, I'm not sure if it's any better.

I liked this too, then i'd only have to buy one coat, since I can take out the lining to use for the fleece jacket and add the shell back on for cold outings. But the fleece doesn't have a hood.

Does anyone have either of these and like them? Or know of a cheaper alternative? Having to buy 2 (or 4!) coats is expensive!

I got the columbia suit. I just went with a suit instead of a jacket as I figured they'd need to be warm on their legs too, but it looks the same in term of thickness/warmth... and I think they'll be plenty warm when it's freezing out, and it doesn't look too bulky for car seats. I got some fleece jackets from old navy for when it's less cold though.

We just got a Carter's fleece jacket (brown with a teddy bear on it and bear ears on the hood) at BRU. They were $16, but it was buy one get one 1/2 price. This was on Wed., so I don't know if they are still running that sale.

I just use the whole snowsuit its like a nice warm blanket:) no need for boots or mitts all in one! I live near a Children's Place the jackets did look warm but if you are going to be doing any errands out side in the cold not just run to car-you will need a full piece snowsuit--are you looking for just running errands in the car? have you seen the zip up ones that go around the carseat? I have a used Baby store and its so easy to find coats/snowsuits there for cheap! do you have a used place nearby? they are always in good shape because the child outgrows them before they get worn in.

We have accumulated several jackets, lol. We have a couple of sweatsuit type jackets that are a little thin but good for the weather we have now. We also have a teddy bear fleece jacket from Carter's. We also have the 3 in one jackets (don't think it's the same brand... grandma bought them) but we have not used them because it's not cold enough here yet and they are too big. It's just starting to cool down here so we have only been needing jackets in the evening. I think we are going to enjoy the 3 in 1 jackets once they fit. And the fleece Carter's jackets look pretty cozy!

We have 1 piece fleece outfits. We had them last year in a smaller size as well. The feet and hands fold over in case they want to walk (when they are older) or use their hands for something.

They are nice and safe for the carseat, yet warm all over.

We'd just be doing errands in the car, so just quick trips in and out of a store and back to the car. But I may look into the one piece thing anyway. They've already outgrown their infant carriers, otherwise those car seat covers would be so convenient! We do have a second hand baby store nearby. I've been checking for outerwear, but so far haven't seen anything good. But since so many of you are recommending the one piece fleece outfits that cover the hands/legs/feet, I may have to go that way. Although once you get in a store or mall, I wonder if it gets too warm?

I've used the Columbia 1 piece bunting - it's just like the one you linked, only it covers their whole body. Here is one similar to what I use - but mine isn't the bear - that is so cute! They are fantastic. For 6 month olds, I really don't think you would need anything more. I will be using the same fleece this year for my Jake. It's super warm! I also have an extra hat and mittens to use with it if it's extra cold, but for most days, even in the dead of winter, these are warm enough. I just have a blanket or two in the car to throw over them in their carseat in case it's really frigid!

I even took Jake last year up to the ski resort to take pictures of my older boys who were taking a ski class. I dressed him warmly underneath the bunting, and then just had the bunting over the 2 layers of warmer clothes. He was so toasty I actually had to take off one of his thin layers he was wearing - and it was cold that day!

Ok, I have to bump this thread before I have a heart attack!

I shopped this weekend and got my DD a jacket from old navy. Even though it appeared thin, she was still all bunched up in the carseat with it, and it just did NOT work. I bought my son a jacket that could go for a spring jacket but it had a sweatshirt on the inside. It was still too big for the darn carseat, and for him for that matter.

I read online that with the graco safe seats, some of these shower cap style carseat covers do not fit, like the kidopotamus ones I was looking at.

So now I am back to freaking OUT!

If I cant use a carseat cover, will one of these below do the trick? If its not the full suit but just the jacket, will it be warm enough with blanekts on top?
My big question is like Denise first asked, can any vouch for either of these? Are they bulky or thin enough to be safe in a carseat, yet still very warm?

I am sick of worrying about this :(

The links didn't work for me. They came up saying "products not found".

I didn't look at your links, but just wanted to add a plug for the LL Bean fleece coveralls. It's a midweight fleece suit that covers arms and legs. They're easy to put on, keep their legs warm too, adorable, and thin enough for use in the carseat. You can get them on ebay for much less than retail.

Honestly anything more than one layer looks bulky in the infant car seats. I wouldn't worry about it and just put one or two blankets on top of them.

Woops, not sure why my stupid links didnt work :) Sorry!
I think I just copied and pasted from Denise and thats the problem.

SO I really like the idea of these fleece jackets with the hood and gloves that Denise posted, so cute and pretty warm looking!

Then I figure I will just throw blankets on top. I just dont know if a car cover will fit over the Safe Seat. Has anyone tried?

I think I'm going to order the Columbia fleece jackets as well. Hopefully with blankets, it will be warm enough no matter what. Not sure about the car seat cover, we had the snugride carriers, but never had covers for them. They were born at the end of March and we never took them out. Now they're too big for their infant carriers.

I do have snowsuits for the babies that people gave me so for walks youre right, that will work awesome. At least they will fit comfortably in their carseats though for the drive to and from daycare, with these columbia jackets. Thanks everyone!!! Now i just have to decide on the colors. Wanted purple but its only 18 mo and above, damn!

I have the microfleece jackets from Old Navy (striped) and I also have the reversible Osh Kosh ones with pink on one side and polk-a-dot fleece on the other. I hate making decisions too. In fact I am so p*$@$ed off becasue I found this Macleran twin stroller for $190 at Albee baby and of course it is out of stock and they won't be getting anymore in, that was a heck of a deal. Sorry to vent.
