I was thinking about getting my girls a couple sets (Noah's Ark and the Barn) for Christmas but I'm not sure if they'd enjoy them. Did your children really play with them or were they a waste of money? If so what age did they start? TIA

Blake (14 months) LOVES his Little People Farm. It's sort of helped him identify animals like cow, sheep and pig too. :)

we have the farm..Noah plays with it but not as much as I thought he would..maybe if I took away some of the other stuff he would go to it more often.

DD loves them. We have the school bus, car, talking doll house, and ferris wheel. They are all used daily.

My kids love the farm and the pirate ship. All three still play with them everyday.
I bought them the Ark and all of the animal booster packs because their nursary was done in the Ark theme. They could care less, and never play with the boat. They love the animal booster pack animals though.

My two NEVER play with them.

They have several. The train station one is the only thing that got any action!! It's really hit or miss. If they don't like litte things and pretending, I would hold off till they are a bit older. JMO.

    Good luck!

We have several -- house, castle, zoo, circus, pirate ship, barn, and school bus. They like all of them, but hands down their absolutel favorite is the zoo. The barn is the first one I bought them because I thought they'd really love the animals, but to be honest, it's not one of their favorites. If yours like animals, I'd recommend the zoo since there are actully 26 different animals and my girls LOVE it. Other than that, the house, castle, and pirate ship get the most play.

Mine have both of those sets. They got the barn around 18 months and play with it some every day. For a while, they had to take the animals to bed with them. They just got Noah's Ark last week for their birthday, so they're in toy overload right now, but have played with the animals a few times already.

We have a few now from my oldest DD. She started really playing with them at age 2 and played with them until age 5. So they are definitely not a waste of money.

We have several too. The kids starting playing with them a year ago and they play with them everyday. A lot of our sets are older ones that I had for my older kids when they were little.

We have the house, bus, firetruck, barn, garage, and a couple of front loader trucks. 2 years ago I also bought the Noah's Arc and this year I bought the plane.

Like I said, mine love them and play with them everyday.

I would start off with one of the sets that has a vehicle, like the school bus or the animal train. That way, if they don't like the "Little People" aspect of it, they will probably at least play with the vehicle. We have a few sets, and the school bus is the most popular. They also really love the swing from the school set. They will also take the people and put them in other toys and play with them outside of the LP set.

The girls got the farm and the circus train for their first birthday. They liked them so much we got them a lot of the other sets including the van. They loved them and played with them for years. I've since put them away but they still occassionally play with the figurines. They'll be resurrected when Eric gets older.

My girls have the barn and play with it a couple times a week at this point-it was a daily favorite with them when we first bought it and for the first few months. They love to read "Barnyard Dance" by Sandra Boynton and then use the animals to act the story out. We also have the house, railroad, school bus, school play set, and airplane. Jessica adores the airplane and bus and plays with them daily. Often, the children fly to school lol. They have the garage set from my niece at my mom's hosue and love it too.

Our newest favorite is the Little People nativity set that was a birthday gift last month. Jessica carries the baby Jesus around the house with her all the time. We have a large nativity and it is nice for them to have one they are allowed to touch and play with as opposed to mine which is off limits.

Hmmmm, there such a mix! Maybe I'll just get something small and go from there. Thank you everyone for your thoughts, it really is making my shopping easier. :)

I got them for the girls when they were about 14 months old and they didn't really play with it that much other than spreading all the little people and animals all over the house so I packed them up. I am thinking of trying again in a couple of weeks or maybe just pulling out the farm one since they are so into animals and their sounds right now.

I found them to be wastes of money. They get put together and then they come apart. Then, I just don't thik anyone gets around to putting them back together.

The farm and the doll house are the most used ones in our house. But they are just know really starting to play with them and we have had them since their first Christmas, so almost 2 years!

My twins are a couple of months older then yours and the barn is the favorite toy their birth to 3 teacher brings. They like putting the animals in and out of the stalls and playing with the tractor. Of course, they also have to taste the toys as well.

My kids have the farm, and I just bought the Noah's Ark for Liam for Christmas. They play with it often enough. The funny thing is, when we go to my Mom's house, they play with the ones there. My mother still has the ones that we had as kids, and my youngest sister is 36!

I agree with several of the pp's -- not used so much. In considering clearing out the old to make room for the new, these have really come under scrutiny, but I do think they'd freak out if I were to take them away. :unknw:

The ark got very little play, the bus probably gets the most (I wouldn't throw that one out) and I think my favorite is the amusement park.

The girls got the touch and feel barn last Christmas and Emmy plays with it all the time. She loves Little People. She's getting more and more into pretend play now with dolls and figurines, whereas Amber enjoys more pretending to be a mommy or cooking. Their little personalities are so funny. There are periods of time where they don't play with it but then there comes a time where she'll sit in their room on the floor and you won't hear a peep out of her because she's playing with it and the Little People Happy Home doll house that I picked up for a consignment shop.
