My kids are doing great on table food and my DH wants to start adding fish to their diet. I do not like fish, so it never occured to me to introduce that. Anyway, are there types of fish that kids shouldn't have or are they all okay? I asked my pediatrician at our 1 year check up and he was very vague and never really gave us an answer so I thought I would get some input from you ladies. Thank you.

I found this information, you really just need to stick with fish not likely to be high in mercury.

I feed my girls salmon, cod fish stick (from Costco), tilapia, and occasionally tuna. We have fish at least once a week, and during Lent often twice.

I agree with pp, just stick to fish with low mercury. I love fish, but my kids won't touch it.

I give my two salmon quite frequently. They love it.

We have tried grouper but i was a little worried about bones. My son doesn't like tuna so havent' given that too often.

We have fish (usually salmon) about once a week. I will make them tuna (which they love) occasionally, but not too often.

We got a bunch of salmon last week and baked it up the first night and then used the leftovers to make a salmon, cream cheese, and chive omelet. The boys LOVED it, and that would make a pretty easy finger/table food for little ones.

eta: my boys also love crab cakes with tzatziki. You can make inexpensive, fake crab cakes using tuna that turn out pretty good. Crab cakes (or tuna cakes) would also make for an easy finger/table food.

We do salmon on the grill, salmon burgers from Costco, and some tuna in a casserole. I have done cod once but they were not crazy about it.

mine love all fish, but we stick mostly to white fish. the salmon tends to give them diarhea.

I've always fed my kids fish and the only things I would keep an eye on are fish that could be high in mercury (predatory fish) and shellfish (high in cholesterol). I wouldn't offer those more than once a week. Mine love salmon, trout, tilapia, fresh tuna, seabass, shrimp, and scallops.

Fish is a great food for little ones because it's so much easier to chew than red meat or even chicken.
My girls love salmon & talapia -- they've been eating those since they were 9 months or so. We added in shrimp and filets of other kinds, like grouper & catfish, since I love those.

Fish is very healthy, so a good habit to start early. Who knows, maybe you can learn to like it along with the kiddos!
