Mine said 'cat' at about eight months. They adore our two cats and follow them everywhere, so I'm not surprised that cat was the first word. Sometimes it sounds like cat, sometimes gat, sometimes kee ca (I think this might be kitty cat?). They say cat nearly every time either of the cats walks into the room.

Just in the last week or so they've started to say 'hi' when we say hi to them. They still don't say any other words in reference to people or things, not even mama or dada. Lots of babbling and sounds (ma, da, ni, na, ga, ba, etc.), so I'm hoping they'll start saying mommy and daddy soon.

My little ones don't say anything yet. Well, my DD babbles and says "gay-gay-gay-gay." DS is pretty quiet.

My older DD said "uh-oh" at exactly 1 year, and that's all she said until after 18 months....

My dd 1 said momma at 8 months and dd2 was right there with her and said dada. Now they say momma & dada & pawpaw & hi & bye bye.

Also only mamma and dadda. Still waiting for more to follow. Altough they have fat conversations with each other....

mamamama and dadadadadada were around 8 months, but they didn't connect it to anything. Around 11 months, they started calling DH dada and me mama (sometimes) and Meara also says Uh Oh (when anyone drops anything!), and ow when her sister pulls her hair.

We have mama and dada starting around 10 months ... but I don't think they connected it to us. We definitely have "hi" now ... and sometimes "bye bye". Now we are getting more mama and dada I THINK actually towards us. And Hailey says "Yeah!" every time anyone claps there hands.

man, my kids are slow! We've got the Dadadada going on, but I'm pretty sure they don't connect it. I've been BEGGING them to say Mama for months now, but I'm still not getting it!

Don't know if this is a myth but I've heard that boys are slower to do anything verbal. that being said, my Ezra has been saying TiTa evey time he sees our kitty whose name is Sita. It's unmistakeable. Strangely, I've always thought he was very feminine and even sometime refer to him as "she" or when I'm talking to his brother as "your sister".

I have absolutely no idea why but he is also much better with his fine motor skills than his brother (who is better with his gross motor skills) and all sorts of other stereotypes/cliches????
