Some friends took us boating yesterday and they have a double ski tube with backrests. The boys were climbing into it and using it as a lounger the last time we went with them but DH was adamant that actually riding in it was something they'd try next year. Well, then the owners started talking about towing other kids we know with a parent and one of these kids is younger than the boys... next thing I know, he's sitting on the boat pushing the tube away with his feet and then hauling it back with the rope. They're giggling themselves silly so he said maybe at an idle with us riding with them. Needless to say, we ended up doing much more than idling but not too fast. Trevor kept yelling "FASTER!" and they'd squeal whenever we hit the smallest wave. They cried when we had to get out to go home for dinner. I have a feeling DH will be shopping the end of Summer sales for a double ski tube of our own. At least now we know what to get them for their birthday :)

Some of my fondest summertime memories are of intertubing behind the skiboat.

Just wait until they get a little older and you can get them each their own tube so they can drag one another over to the edge of the wake, let go and watch their brother catapult out at 30mph! Good times, my friend.....good times!

Yeah, we have a single and I'm sure we'll get another single when they're old enough to play "bumper tubes". I once went to a job interview with canvas burns all over my arms from 3-way bumper tubes and the interviewer kept looking at my arms so I went ahead and volunteered details of my weekend. Sadly, he didn't "get it" at all so it was an awkward conversation.
