What were the first signs that you might be having twins? Was it bad morning sickness? Early morning sickness? Worsened pregnancy symtoms?

Sorry all of the questions [IMG] . I just found out I am pregnant and am feeling symtoms already. This is my 3rd pregnancy and with my other 2 I didnt get morning sickness for quite a few weeks still. Also my bbs seemed to have swelled overnight! And they are so sore.

    Thanks to anyone who replies.

The only way to actually know if you are having twins is by going to the doctor and having a blood test and if the hcg levels in your urine are way higher than what it would be with a single baby they might send you for an ultrasound, that is how i found out.

I didn't have any signs that were different than my other 2 pregnancys, i was just more tired than usual. I didn't ever think that I was having twins, so it was quite the shock when I when for the ultrasound. My husband had a hard time believing me, until he seen the pics. Because we already have 2 kids, I just said he really didn't need to take the day off of work to see the ultrasound because it was only the 12 week one.....but he did see them last week when we went for a check up with the ob/gyn.

I actually don't even feel pregnant at all now that I am in my 2nd trimester and have gotten some energy back (other than the bump in the front).

Just go to the dr....thats the only way you will know for sure.

    Good luck, all the best!

Yeah - I would have to agree w/ Juli. I
was told that morning sickness would be worse but it wasn't -
as a matter of a fact I didn't have any w/ these and was VERY sick
with all 3 of my singles! I think every pregnancy is different! mention it to your doctor and see if they won't just do a quick ultrasound!! GOOD LUCK and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

i was told that my HCG level was about 6000. my OB said that it had to be above 3000 or 4000 before they would even do an ultra sound. good luck! and Congraulations!

My HCG level didn't trigger any kind of twin expectation -- it seemed normal and healthy for a growing fetus. I was sicker than with my last pregnancy BIG TIME but I chalked that up to it just being a different pregnancy. The way I found out for sure was at my 7 week u/s when we saw the two sacs.

I guess I am kind of an odd case. At 4 weeks I had my blood HCG test and it was confirmed I was Pg. My level was 64.6. Then 48 hrs later it was repeated and was 145.5 That is a normal doubling. My levels were not high at all in the beginning. The only reason I know I am having twins is b/c we had an u/s at 5 weeks 1 day! I still have not had m/s and my bbs are a little tender. So I guess I am just lucky! LOL

I have heard/read that the morning sickness CAN be really bad with twins due to higher levels of hcg.

However, I never got sick at all-but I sure had other problems! [IMG]

Congrats on your pregnancy-singleton or twins!

I guess I'm the exception- I had NO morning sickness with either of my singlton pregnancies but was nauseated (badly) all the time with this twin pg. I didn't figure that out before I knew it was twins, though, since I had an u/s at about 5-6 weeks. But I will say that I kept thinking about twins- not that I was even having them, they just kept popping into my mind- weird... especially because it never ocurred to me that I would even have twins.

I know it varies a lot between moms - but I had severe morning sickness (none with the first single pregnancy), I was tired beyond belief from the very beginning (didn't really feel that until mid first trimester with the single one) and I really started to show QUITE early - like 6-7 weeks (not huge, but I couldn't fit into my normal pants) And I kept tellling my doc that I felt things were happening much sooner than with the first. She would say that it was just my second pregnancy and that was normal. Twins were finally confirmed at 19-20 weeks. (She hadn't been checking my fundal height and I think she may have believed me if she had!)

Since this is my first pregnancy, I didn't know what to expect. I didn't have any increased pregnancy signs, but I kept telling everyone that I had a belly around 8 weeks. Everyone said people don't show until later in pregnancy. I definately started showing really early & actually joked about being pregnant with twins!!!!

Best way to find out is an early U/S. Let us know what you find out. Good luck!

Well I still don't know anything yet. I will be seeing my doctor within the next couple of weeks and am hoping to get an early u/s. The all-day sickness has hit me really hard. We will see!! Thanks again ladies. [IMG]

i have had no morning sickness either. but i was told that i had to have the blood test for the HCG level and they called me 3 days later to go to the u/s the next week. i went that wednesday after and i was told that i was having twins and that i was at 5weeks and 5 days pregnant. i measured 10 weeks for a singleton pregnancy so the OB knew that something wasn't right at first. but i also didn't know when my last period was because i was coming off of one birth control to switch to another. i found out by 2 pregnancy tests on sat, nov 11 that i was pregnant and my normal one year exam was scheduled for that wednesday after. i had to call change my appt to a pregnancy. my blood test on friday confirmed HCG and pregnancy. and nov 22 was u/s.
so to this day i still haven't had morning sickness and the YUCK is finally gone! only the U/S can really confirm twins! good luck and lots of love!

  17. My hcg levels were within the range for a singleton and at my week 5 ultrasound I had triplets (lost one at 7 weeks) so even the Hcg can be deceiving. I was an IVF patient so early ultrasounds are part of the deal. As for symptoms - I was so fatigued I could barely move and it seemed excessive - more than I had ever heard about from any pregnant woman. The m/s sickness hit me hard in the 7th week - but I have nothing to compare it with as these are my first and only kids - Hope you get the news you want!!!!

Congrats on your pregnancy. Oddly enough I had every twin-preggers sign in the world with both my twins and my singleton, so I'm not much help.
I thought with my last pregnancy that B/C I was sick right @ 6 weeks ( like with the girls) and throwing-up lasting the entire length of both pregnancies and with the big-time heartburn, bloating and exhaustion that it was either another set or at the very least another little girl, but I was wrong I had an almost 11 lb Mr. big baby. So ya never know.....
Can't wait to hear either way! [IMG] p

I had the worst morning, afternoon, and evening morning sickness ever. They couldn't figure out what the problem was until they found out I was pregnant with 2 girls. So all of their hormones and mine were to much for my body and made me really sick.

  20. I had the worst pain on my right side that I thought I was ectopic. Went to the emergency room and found HCG levels were elevated. Confirmed by ultrasound at 5w5d with twins. Turned out I had ovulated twice out of same ovary...I had no idea it could hurt?! [IMG]
