Well, tomorrow is their first set of shots. I am so scared! Our oldest child has autism so I was on the fence about them anyway. I decided to get them since my daughter had them and is fine - I am just so scared. Plus, today was such a fussy day! Both babies cried all day long! What is it going to be like tomorrow! My husband has a poker party tomorrow night so I am going to be alone with the twins and the two older babies (he has to go since he is hoping for a promotion to the team of the guy giving the party - a networking thing) Ugh, I am not looking forward to tomorrow!

I was really worried about the girls' first shots. My pedi told me that I could give them 0.4ml of tylenol. We did just before they went to bed, but they did wonderful. They really didn't act any more fussy than usual.

Ditto on the tylenol it works wonders!

When mine had their first shots I was a total whimp! I cried more than they did!

Take someone with you to help you with the babies. while one is crying from the shots they will want to go ahead and poke the other one. Your assistant can hold the first one while you help the nurse with the second one.

Give the tylenol in the exam room after the exam and before the shots, that way both are hitting their system at the same time. Bring a bottle or be prepared to nurse to help the babies calm down. Ask the nurse to let you have extra time in the room to get them calmed down before you leave...

keep the legs moving while they are awake. do "bicycle" motions on their legs and it will keep them from being so sore.

Advice: Don't do it. We didn't.

I read on a previous post that putting orajel where the shot will be makes it hurt much less.
I'm also very weary about shots. We will be starting them next month.
Good luck! Hope it goes smoothly.

We didn't have any problems with the shots. The first time, we didn't know to give Tylenol ahead of time (we have done it for all shots since), but we gave it right afterwards, and they didn't seem any more fussy than usual. They only cried about the actual shots for about 10 seconds. (Of course they cried a lot at that age anyway.)
