Hi I am Melissa just had my mono/di boys 5 days ago via c section. They are my first babies so this is all really new :D I have to go get the boys circumcised today :( I found out DH had to work and couldn't go and cried for like an hour yesterday the thought of having to see them in pain kills me..Do they hurt all day? Is it hard to watch?

Welcome and congrats! It will be hard yes, but you can make it through - look how far you have come already!

Sorry I can't help out more, we decided not to circumcise.

Oh wow...mine were done while we were in the hospital so I didn't have to be there. I don't think it feels great but it's quick (my doc used this thing that just goes around it and clips the skins....very quick). Be strong...they won't remember it! I'll be thinking of you!

Aw, you poor thing!!! I'm so sorry your husband can't go with you, can you bring anyone else for emotional support?? I'm sorry I can't help, I had 2 girls, but your little guys will be OK. They won't remember it at all. Here's some  s for you & your babies.

Congrads on the babies! We choses not to have the twins or our next youngest done. Our older 2 are. They do numb the area with a novacain medicine and give tylenol but thats it. They dont "feel" the cut but they do feel something, not sure what. Its quick and you are not in the room. Its the after part thats the worst cause some are not consolable, would you be??? Honestly??? You gel em with vasaline an some docs give a numbing medicine. You cant leave till they pee so you could be there awhile. Good luck!

:welcome: to first year! I'm sure it's going to be hard to watch, I wouldn't want to see a medical procedure done on my girls. I'm sure you'll get through it though. I got my girls ears pierced (I know it's not the same thing but girls don't have anything that's equivilent) and I really really wanted it, but then when I saw Lily cry I started to cry too. Now they look so cute with earrings though, it was worth it! GL.

Congrats on your boys! My twins were circumsized at the hospital, so I wasn't present during the procedure. I know they gave them a numbing agent and tylenol, and brought them to me shortly after the procedure. Neither one seemed in any pain afterwards, though Grady screamed during the procedure. Miles barely made a peep I guess. I agree to try and find someone to go with you for support! Good luck!

My two boys were done in the hospital as well. They just hated being naked more than anything!! LOL - we did it right before feeding time - so right after they were done - DH and I snuggled and gave them bottles. They were fine. In fact - they weren't crying at all like 2 minutes after!! Good luck - and bring someone with you for support!!

Ours was done in the hospital too, so we weren't present. They gave him tylenol at the procedure and I think again throughout the day. We kept the gauge with vaseline on for the first 24 hours. I didn't notice any extra fussiness or anything at all with him after, even when changing his diapers. If we weren't told he was getting it done that morning, I never would have known (based on his behavior). Maybe they don't have the same pain receptors at this age or something? Definitely worth getting it over with now though. Good luck, it will be awful to hear him cry initially, but you'll get through it. It will probably traumatize you more than it would him in the end.

My ds had his done in the hospital and they told me he didnt even cry. He wasnt any more fussy afterwards either. Hope for the same for you and your boys. I wish dh could go with you though! Sorry you have to go alone!
    Congrats and welcome to FY!

:welcome: Melissa and babies. i have had 2 boys circumsised so far and they do cry when its done, but as soon as they have put them in my arms they both stopped. Neith one of my boys really complained the day of or the next, but they did give them Tylenlol. Dont worry--its not as bad as it looks. Although Im not a boy and never had it done--lol

We found out N was being discharged from the NICU the morning of discharge and we wanted him circed before he came home. My ob came at lunch to do it. I saw N immediately after. It was still bleeding and he was still snuffling and squawking. I felt SO bad. I got mad at dh since the decision was more him than me and he wasn’t even there. I loved on N for a bit and he calmed down but I felt awful about it. We gave him Tylenol throughout the day. He was fine after that initial reaction. We made sure to slather A&D ointment on it at every diaper change til it healed. You might want to bring someone to help you in case either of yours need some extra comforting.
My first ds was full term. His was done in the hospital and like the pp I would never have known it from how he acted. I guess in the regular nursery they wait for the baby to calm down before they bring him to you.

    Good luck!

Congratulations and Welcome to the FY! Luke was circumsized at that hospital. They said he cried a little bit but afterwards was perfectly fine. We just put petroleum jelly on his "little man" every diaper change and made sure it was clean as well. When the our pediatrician checked them for the first time (he was about 10 days old) she told us that he was healed. I could not imagine watching the actual surgery though, it would have broken my heart.

I cried more than my son did they give them a pacifier and some sugar water and it hurts only for a bit he was gone like 30 min and wasn't even crying when they brought him back......and he seemed a bit tender the first day then after that it didn't seem to bother him anymore

Hello and :welcome: to FY. I did not see DS's circumcision. We used A&D on that area during a diaper change and were super cautious when changing him. Everything went well  .
