So I had my first peri appointment on Fri. ( I haven't been on the comp all weekend) She said everything looked great. She didn't seem to have any concerns.

Baby A, our boy, weighs 2lbs 5 oz and baby B, our girl, weighs 2 lbs 1 oz. I've been told these are really good weights for 27 weeks.

I have to start NST's next week. For those of you that have had them. Do you just sit there? Should I bring a book or something?

I would actually fall asleep during them!! :) You do just sit there and you might have something to do like hold something. I always watched the screen or like I mentioned, fell asleep.
Sounds as if you had a good appt. Those are good weights for being 27 weeks along! WTG Momma!

I just lay there for the nst's b/c there are wires everywhere! I try to close my eyes and relax too or watch the monitor to see how crazy the babies are moving around...last week I was hooked up for an hour-you start to get uncomfortable on those little tables. Good luck and nice weights for the babies!

I had to push a button every time one of the girls moved, so I would just lay there and relax and close my eyes. It was the only place that was cool enough for me for some reason so I loved going to them!

If you don't have to push the button I would take a magazine. I would only be hooked up for 30 or so minutes unless my contractions were really close, then it was longer.

    Good luck!!

What does it mean to have a peri appt? Is that something different than a regular dr. appt? I am assuming from context that an NST appt. is something where they monitor the babies movement. ??? Sorry to sound silly, but I have never heard of these two things and I just wonder if it something I need to ask my Dr. about.

A perinatologist is a high risk dr-I went there our of precaution only b/c I was having twins-my ob is very cautious. I'm usre your ob would have recommended you go to a peri dr if there was cause for concern.
The NST is a nonstress test where they monitor the babies heartrates and check you for contractions. I didn't start my weekly NST's until 32 weeks-ask your dr when you will start them. There is also something else called a BPP-biophsyical profile where they check the babies' fluid, mvmt, breathing etc. via sonogram. The 2 usually go hand in hand.
    Good luck!

Just wanted to add that a lot of expectant twin Mom's see a peri and their regular OB even if they are not high risk, but just because they are having twins. That is what I did and I was only high risk due to having twins. It was great and eased my mind as the peri gave an u/s at every visit. :)

Luckily I don't think I have to lay on a table. The office I go to has recliners!

Oh-that is SO nice! It would be much more comfortable to sit there instead of on a hard examining table!
