Looking to buy my girls their first pair of shoes. Looking for a really good brand, that is soft and flexible and of course comfortable. Any brands that you all love??

    thanks!

I got my kiddos shoes from Target, no particular brand and it took a couple of days for them to adjust to them but once they did, they were fine. I know a lot of people have praise for Stride Rite. If I remember correctly, my two first pair of shoes were sneakers.

We got our boys these Robeez classic sandals and from day 1 they have never tried to pull them off and it doesn't affect Brandon's walking at all (Colin is on the verge of walking). We liked that they were a neutral color and can be worn with any outfit, because I surely ain't going to spend $20 on many pairs of baby shoes  When I bought them endless.com was having a "buy 2 get 20% off" sale. I also bought them 2 pairs of these "water shoes" for our upcoming beach trip. They wore them the other weekend at the lake for the first time and didn't fuss at all. So I guess you could say I'm a fan of Robeez, when they are on sale :) I've also heard great things about Pedipeds. Might try them whenever our boys outgrow these 2 pair of Robeez.

ETA: Target had an almost identical pair of brown sandals as the Robeez I linked to but for only $11 or $12. I bought a medium which was already tight on our boys at 11 months old, so I kept checking back for more of those brown sandals in size large, but I never could find those same sandals again at Target, which is why I bought the Robeez. I would have been happy with those soft leather shoes from Target though!

I just bought these for my girls
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3095566, they also have them in a more fall color http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3116091?refsid=298628&refcat=0~2376778~6007879~6019444~6019465~6019495&SourceID=&SlotID=1&origin=related&cm_Sp=Related-Items-_-Product-_-Auto

I did buy them when they were having a sale, so they were about half the price, but I need to say, that these shoes are very flexible, another cool thing that they have, is that the insole, comes out so that you can see how the shoe actually fits.

Shoes are so funny. You could definitely try the Target Robeez knockoffs first, but they wouldn't stay on the girls feet (yet my neighbor had no problems with her baby.) We got the Robeez and they wore them out - they were awesome. Now we have Pedipeds. It was tough not going with more Robeez but I was interested in trying out more brands to mix things up a bit. We LOVE our Mary Jane pedipeds...btw you and me Robeez and Pedipeds seem like the same shoe anyway. We also have some harder sole shoes from target that are cute but they cut into the tops of their feet and leave marks. For me, I am a huge fan of the barely there shoe since foot development is so important. My girls are running now. Hope to make it to 2 yrs before considering more regular shoes. And we still only wear them outside...inside barefoot. Good luck - I remember being excited to buy my first shoes.

Oh, and I wanted to mention that I have an interest-free charge card at this department store in Illinois and Iowa called Von Maur. It is comparable to a Nordstrom's. I worked there when I lived in Illinois and it is a great secret! I keep it because occasionally when I splurge on something like this, I can order it and pay it off slowly interest free (you have to pay 20% of the balance each month). For these kind of purchases that are hard to swallow you might want to consider going to their site and applying. Interest free and free shipping always! Big selection of shoes and other stuff of course. Hard to find a deal like that at department stores. I use it for the occasional birthday gift, etc. Anyway, I digress. But they carry Robeez, Pedipeds, and a bunch of other brands. Good luck.

My guys were always barefoot or in socks in the house, and before they could walk we'd just put slippers on them if we took them out of the house. When they first started walking, I bought THESE from Target in blue and brown, and they wore them FOREVER! They have a thin rubber sole, enough to protect the feet from rocks and stuff, but are very flexible.

Target has some super cute toddler girls flex soled shoes, they only go up to size 5 and are around 12.99. The boys current shoes are stride rites, we had a coupon combined with a sale so the price was comparable.

Lots of good suggestions so far, I also really liked the Jack and Lily shoes I got from Costco once as well as some See Kai Run shoes. The SKR shoes are pretty spendy, but they do occasionally offer sales on their website.

I tried soft sole shoes first and they hated them. They actually just hated shoes in general. But I then bought them sun and sand sandals that have to buckles (so they could not take them off) and it took about twenty minutes and they loved them. Now they just bring them to me around the house to wear. It is pretty funny.

They go barefoot here at home, but when we are out I bought some sandals at our K-mart (don't remember the brand) They are nice and soft-ish. Better than the ones at Walmart, which were pretty stiff and flat.

My pedi gas requested that our girls only wear pediped or stride rite. Their first pair was soft soled pediped sandals. Now we do stride rite tennis shoes :)
