blech.. I haven't seen an OB in years and now I am reminded why.. I am not happy with this OB at all and will NOT be going back. Not only did she make comments about the amount of kids I have but she didn't do a single thing. She had some guy in training doing everything.. I am not comfortable with a male.. thats why I see a female for my care.

So my stats.. I lost half a pound.. and that was with eating like a freakin pig for the last week to try anything to gain some weight. She said my weight was good :dunno.. I am one that firmly believes that maternal weight gain in a twin pregnancy is very very important to the health of both babies as is my MW.. so this bothers me... My bp was fine.. though I was never told the numbers.. babies hr's were 150 and 131.. they have never been that far apart.. they are always within a few beats of each other.. but again.. this was done by a guy in training and his first reading on the HR was 150 and 125. They didn't measure me so I can't tell you how far I measured..I got NO information from the u/s report.

The entire appointment took about 5 min.. tops.

I did figure out one thing.. I was never told my official EDD.. so I asked.. my MW has me as Aug 12.. which is the date that one of the babies measured at with the very first u/s at 11 weeks.. so looks like I get to bump that up a few days :).

I am going every 2 weeks now so I see my MW on the 30th and will be asking if there are any other OB's she is willing to work with because I will NOT be going back to that one. oh.. and my u/s is next wednesday.. the 24th.

It sounds like everything with the babies is going well. That is great!!! I agree that if you are not comfortable with your OB you should find another one. It is not good to go through such an important time with someone you don't trust. Good luck with the search.

    Hey Mel,
I'm sorry the OB and pal weren't so good. My OBs occasionally pull the same 5 minute routine, and with twins, they have such a hard time chasing down the heartrates that they'll quickly give up and say, "Well, the heartrates are around the 140s and 150s. . ." Never specific as they are with singletons. When I go to the OB, the waiting room wait takes longer than the actual exam! Since we're seeing the specialists too, the OB seems less concerned with checking on the babies, leaving that up to the specialists. I'm beginning to understand more (outside of even higher risk pregnncies like mine with the TTTS) why twin pregnancies warrant more visits with specialists and u/s.

If it makes you feel not so alone, know that I too have struggled since week 20 to put on weight. I guess the babies start needing more, and it just gets harder to eat enough. I usually try to eat quite healthy, but as of late, I've been eating higher caloric foods with the healthy stuff. I'm ignoring my GD diet for a bit to see if the nutrition helps my TTTS situation too. I have definitely felt better and am putting on weight now.

I hope you find an OB you like. . . I do not think it was nice at all for them to make snide remarks about your family size. It's none of their business!!

    I hope you have a great u/s!

ew sorry you had a crappy appointment. i was going to a large practice with 9 docs, i saw a few that i liked, and then had 1 appointment with a total a-hole and never went back. i switched to my new practice at 16 weeks. its 2 men, i like the 1 more than the other, but theyre both nice and they dont rush me. blah i would switch OBs if i were you!

I'm glad that everything looks good with the twins. Sorry you ob is not so great. I too have a "follower" with my ob. She had a hard time with the heartbeats the first time and measured my belly at 32 weeks than my ob re-measured me and he got 39 weeks. She even forgot to pull out the extension on the "table" so when she started my legs were just a hanging down. Not comfy at all. I've let him know that I don't mind if she's in the room but I prefer him to conduct the appointment. Hope you are able to find a doctor you feel comfortable with.

oh so sorry -- first of all that is so wrong to comment on the amount of children you have (that wouldn't have sat well with me either...). I haven't been to an OB for almost 10 years (I've had my last couple of boys at home with a MW) so I was really nervous to go back to the hospital and have a *traditional* OB for my primary Dr. Thankfully I have gotten in with a fabulous group that has made me feel very comfortable - but I was so scared that I would experience what you just went through - so I totally sympathise with you..... I agree that you should find another Dr that your MW is willing to work with and one that makes you feel like you and the twins are the most important thing to her for those 10-15 min (LOL) - seriously though....
    good luck!

You should definetly ask around for a better OB is you aren't comfortable with the one you have. I changed OB's 3 times and Peri's twice over the past few years until I found one that I liked and could trust. Afterall, they are responsible for the lives of our babies!

I agree that if you are not comfortable with your care you should definately change. But I did just want to mention that I had a problem gaining weight with my twin pregnancy and my girls were born at 38 weeks with no NICU time. So don't be alarmed about the weight gain. Also, with this pregnancy, I have only gained 2 pounds and my OB isn't worried.

Hopefully you can find a provider that you trust and love. I know I would be lost with out mine.
