First night in L & D

Well I spent my first night in L & D, atleast with the twins. I of course spent it there with my son, but anyways... Yesterday (12/21) my son and I went to my office xmas party and just hung out and visited with everyone seems how I have been off work for 2 weeks. Came home and when I went to the bathroom could tell that I was starting lose my mucous plug, and there was a tad of brown blood.. So I called the dr. as they told me to if I noticed it.. They wanted to see me because Wednesday I was 1-2 cm dilated and 50 % thinned.. So I took my son to my mom's, which we were headed there anyways, and headed to the hospital.. I was having contractions, and they monitored me for a while and the dr. decided to give us the decision to stay or go home.. Well I was gonna choose to go home, and she came back in and made the decision to keep me because I haven't had any contractions on any of my NST tests... So I was admitted, and they started fluids and some medicine.. Procardia and something starts with a "T". It took 4 nurses and 8 blows of my veins to get an IV started.. I was about ready to tell them I wasn't getting a stupid IV. They finally called the IV team to come and try, she finally got it on the 2nd try. Needless to say my arms and hands are black and blue and very sore this morning..

Baby A had moved out of head down.. The dr. could still feel his head but it wasn't pushing down as much this morning, and the contractions finally slowed to about 20 minutes apart.. They decided to let me come home, because of all that and my cervix had remained unchanged.. I told my hubby I wasn't going back until my arms healed.. I think that was worse than labor, atleast what I remember from my son.. I was very close to passing out from everything..

Well hopefully I make it through Christmas, and keep them in there a little longer.. 34 1/2 weeks is too early.. I still have stuff to get done..

Sorry to hear you had such problems with your IV being put in. That is the worst. Take it easy and keeping baking those babies

IV's Suck! I am so sorry they didnt know what they were doing.. I dont know if you are like me.. But i have TINY veins and they always have problems.. I let themknow ahead of time so they can get a specialist..
I think you will make it past christmas.

Yeah my IV was more drama then my spinal yesterday… but I will think good thoughts so you make it past Christmas…

 

Yuck, the IV situation is no fun at all! Sorry to hear that.
I will be hoping you can keep those little ones in a little bit longer ~ as for getting stuff done....I gave up on that weeks ago!
I figure that even if I was mobile enough to get around I still wouldn't feel 'ready'.
So rest up & take care of yourself Everything else will fall into place.

 

oh boy its getting super close now! rest up and keep an eye on the contractions-those iv are th worst! i have "delicate" veins :lol:

 

Glad to hear you are doing better. At least you are past the point were you have to worry to much if you go into labor. Hopefully you will make it through Christmas and keep those babies growing. Good luck.
