first hospital stay

sorry ive been missing the past few days. went to the doc wednesday cuz i wasnt feeling right. crampy, tightness in the belly constantly. so he checked and said my cervis was softer than he'd like and sent me to the hospital. got to the hospital and they said i was 50% effaced and sent me for an u/s. cervix was 2.5 cm long, and doc said it was 1/2cm shorter than he'd like, and that the medicine they were giving me wasnt stopping the contractions. i was on 3mg mag. and can i just say that stuff SUX. i puked all over a nurse, lol. i told them i was gonna be sick and they didnt move fast enough hehe. so after a few hours on the mag and the contractions still coming they deicded to transport me to another hospital about 45 min away cuz they couldnt handle babies born before 32 weeks, and the other hospital can handle them much earlier. so i got to ride in the ambulance, sirens lights and all! so very very exciting! anyhow, was there for awhile, they had me on IV antibiotics cuz i had a small amount of bacteria in my urine, so now i have a LOVELY yeast infection which makes me feel so much better. i did get 2 shots of a steroid to help the babies, right in the tushy too, very nice. lol. both babies looked good on the u/s and we weighing 1lb 12oz and 1lb 13oz, and neither seemed affected by the contractions or the medicines. so they kept monitering and now i just have an irritible uterus, and they arent happy with it, but i got to come home last night with an rx for procardia, 20mg every 4 hours. still feeling alot of tightness and very uncomfy in the belly area but at least im home and can sleep. i think in the 3 days i was there i slept 8 hours total, and wow hospital food does suck. on top of being lonely cuz my family is about hour and 1/2 from the hospital, and DH is in boot camp. i did get to talk to him though. he snuck his phone and called the hospital. i guess he calledthe house and they told him i was okay but in the hospital. lol poor guy was so worried. anybody else on procardia? and just cuz im 50% effaced and cervix is 2.5cm, thats not HORRIBLE right? i lay around and only get up to shower/bathroom/eat. even though im glad to be out of the hospital im scared that something terrible will happen. i go to my doc on wednesday, so we shall see.

 

I'm sorry you are going through this now. I will be praying that those little babies stay put longer. I'm glad you were able to go home though. Stay strong.

I could have written this excat same post. I was just released from the hospital yesterday and I'm now on 20 mg of Procardia every 6 hours. I was on 3mg/hr of Mag Sulfate for 2 days and felt like I was going to die. I was also transfered to a different hospital so they could handle the babies if needed.
I hope you still have a long road ahead of you for the babies sake.

 

wow thats pretty creepy lol. i was on 20mg every 4 hours but it makes my heart race like crazy and i get an instant headache so i called the doc and he said to space it out to every 6-8 hours instead. the procardia making you feel icky? blah my belly still feels tight all the time, so scary. the mag SUCKS. wow lol i didnt like that stuff. the first time they gave it to me it was kinda nice, calming, but after that, EW. well i guess im gonna go lounge around and do absolutely nothing. woohoo. lol

 

Just started Procardia yesterday...Only 10mg every 4 hours since I have low blood pressure already. Did the terb shot at the hopital with no results, then mag sulfate for 2 days. I have to admit I was scared of the mag after reading several posts here, but I had no problems at all...just tired and very warm. Contractions have subsided...Now strict bedrest at home....

Now, I'm taking one day at a time.... :love0028: Hugs to you!

 

Sorry about the hospital stay. You are right mag sucks. :bad: I am glad you got the steroid shots! Take it easy, hang in there. :hug99:

 

I'm on procardia. So far it's been fine. I've been on it for almost 8 weeks- I'm TERRIFIED of this mag stuff!
I've heard about it.... No thank-you!! My peri said anything below 2.5 I would get admited in the hospital-
and here I am! 7 1/2 weeks now! Hope your tummy calms down. Compared to my daughters pregnancy,
I feel so much more pressure and my tummy tighting a lot! Twins is a different ball game!
