My LO's are 13 1/2 months old and my DS is really getting some wild hair. I am SO not ready for his first haircut because it feels like my baby is growing up LOL however every picture I've taken of him lately he looks SO shaggy!! LOL I don't want to look back at pictures and go that poor kid why didn't I just get his hair cut. LOL He is a wiggle worm! Any tips on getting their first hair cut done?

We're taking the boys today for the exact same reason. They both have a crazy rat tail going on and super long bangs. The sides are still not really grown in, but, maybe they can just even everything out.

No tips, but we chose a place that friends had used because they have the car chairs and buckets of toys to play with while the cut goes on. I'll let you know how it goes!

We just did this. We went to a local place that is mainly walk in and pretty cheap. It was 12 each. Some of our places were charging 20-22. yikes, they don't even have that much hair to cut.
Anyway, I'd say bring a small backpack of toys or small books to keep them busy in case they don't have any. We forgot toys, but it turned out okay. My DS was pretty patient and he looks much better. He had some weird, wispy hair on the back and sides. My DD was more wiggly, but she had her bangs trimmed. They both sat in my lap, which was helpful. Don't forget your camera!

DS has a TON of hair...he has already had 3 haircuts in the last 6 months! The first haircut went well...he was just shy of a year-old. The second hair cut was HORRIBLE! He does not like his ears touched and was ultra-sensitive about the whole process. I even had a spare binky that I pulled out (they only get those at naptime) and that didn't really help. I had to hold him because she had already cut one side and couldn't turn back. He screamed and it was a HORRIBLE experience! I was dreading taking him back because I was sure we had traumatized him! The third hair cut was okay...he didn't really want to have it done. We looked like crazy parents...the minute he showed even the slightest chance he was losing interest in a toy, we would jump in with a new one! The salon we take him to is strictly for kids...they have little TVs with DVDs at each station and oodles and oodles of toys to keep them distracted. Mine never watch TV and the newness of that seemed to help...a little.

Let's just say, be prepared for anything! A backpack of toys, board books, etc. is a good idea if they don't have them at the salon. And make sure you take a good before and after picture...and of course, don't forget a lock of hair! GL!!

(DS is currently going for the Jonas Brothers' look because I don't want to take him back again  )

I'm so jealous of you guys! Our little ladies have barely any hair and it's still coming in super slow. I still think we're a year off from using cute little bows or barettes! Boo!

Make sure to post pictures after the haircuts!

Lisa&Lonnie...my kiddos are baldies too and DS just got his first haircut at 23 months and it was a trim. DD got hers at 20 months and it was a trim as well. My DS was very entertained by his reflection and sat on my DH's lap while his hair was getting cut. DD sat on my lap and was also distracted by the mirror. I just kept talking to her and telling her how pretty she looked and that kept her occupied during the trim. Good luck and post pics!

DD doesn't have much hair at all. DS has quite a bit but hasn't had a haircut yet. I don't think I want to pay to have it cut, though. I plan to learn as we go with cutting his hair. I hope it goes well! Would love to see pictures after your DS gets his haircut.

We're going to try next week I think. My FIL fixes computers for a hair salon and he's going to call in a special favor. LOL We'll see how it goes. I'll definitely take lots of pictures and will post some before and after when we get it done! :) Thanks for the tips!!!

My guys are mostly baldies, but Nate was getting a little "mulletty". He has very fine wispy hair that was sticking up all over like a dandelion. ;) My hairdresser showed me how to pull his hair away from his neck and cut the back and sides so it would lay nicely.

I got brave and did it on Christmas Eve. He was in his high chair finishing dinner, and I just did it quickly while he was eating. He really didn't notice anything funny was going on, but boy his brother was giving me looks!

It turned out pretty good, and I'll probably do it again in a few months when he needs another trim.

Good luck on the haircut and do post photos!
