My boys have mastered Cheerios, Gerber puffs, Gerber Wagon Wheels, small pieces of graham cracker, and tiny chedder cheese cubes. I've also tried scrambled egg yolks. Do you have any other suggestions for finger foods at this age? I tried cutting up small pieces of banana, but they had a difficult time picking up the pieces because they were so slippery. I still feed them pureed veggies and fruit (they don't get the spoon thing yet on their own).

    Thanks!

I bought those mesh feeder things (sorry I don't know the "real" name) but I think they are made by Sassy. Anyway, I put all kinds of fresh fruit, ice (when they were teething) and bananas in them - my kids go to town on them! I know it's not technically "finger foods" but it works well for fresh fruit and I know they won't choke.

If a food is slippery you can coat it in breadcrumbs, graham cracker crumbs, or wheat germ to reduce the slime factor.

I've also diced up pieces of juicy pears and mangos - then frozen the small cubes to give to them....
We're going to try pieces of Whole Grain waffles this week [IMG]
Also frozen bagels that they can gnaw on are good - they can't too much off, and by that time it's all gummy (our pedi's idea)

BTW - how do you strain your egg yolks - i've tried to make them but can't seem to get rid of all the whites? therefore we've only done them hardboiled....

I would also suggest pancakes, waffles, toast, bread, those are all pretty soft for babies. Once they are ok with that you can add cheese cut in small pieces.

I give the twins slices of banana. It's very messy, but they like it. They also seem to really love those long biter biscuits, just because I think they are easier to hold. They also have Gerber jars of little very soft chunks of veggies and fruit. Again, not exactly tidy, but that would work.

I have an actual egg white separator thing ... don't know the official name. It's like a strainer that sits over a bowl. You crack the egg into it and the whites drain off. It's great!
