First dentist appointment

Yeseterday Irelynd and Shae had their first dentist appointment they did so good. They actually liked it, laughed and cooperated. I am happy to say that neither of them have ANY cavaties! :Clap: I was worried about Shae because I saw a dark spot on one of her back molars, dr said it was just a stain nothing to worry about. I am so relieved. I havent ever had a cavaty but Dh has had alot so I wasnt sure whos genes they would get with their teeth. The hygentist recomended sugarless gum with xylitol in it too. Its been proven to help break down the bacteria on teeth and stop cavaties. She even said its been proven safe for pregnant mothers to use and can even help strengthen the growing teeth buds developing. Not all sugarless gum has this ingredient in it so you have to read the labels, we have been giving them sugarfree gum since they started asking for it and who would have know that it was preventing cavaties!!

 

I'm glad it went well. My boys loved their first trip to the dentist, and now they ask to go. I was nervous they would hate the dentist and I'd be fighting them to get their teeth cleaned. Good tip on the gum, although mine have a bad habit of taking it out of their mouths and just dropping it

Congratulations Irelynd and Shae and mommy too for doing such a good job with their teeth. I was nervous at our first appointment too, but our dentist is so good with kids. They can't wait to go to their appointments.

Wooo hooo! This is so encouraging. I am a big dentist-phobe so I have been putting it off. Good to hear about the gum! I have been giving the girls trident with xylitol for a while now. Mostly because i always chewed it and they love gum.. now I am really encouraged.
