I have id girls and last year the were together for PK after talking with their teacher, the girls, and my DH we decided it would be best to seperate them for K. Every time I ask the girls about being in seperate classes they are totally fine with it and one of the big reasons we did it is that one seems more dependant on the other. I am not second guessing the decision it's just that with school starting in 2 weeks I am a little overwhelmed. I mean I will have 2 kindergarten teachers to deal with, the PK class that my youngest will be in has two teachers and last year my oldest had one teacher for science and math and another teacher for everything else so I am assuming he will have two teachers again this year. That is 6 teachers total. It just seems like an awful lot.

Did any of you that seperated your twins have trouble with having extra teachers, homework, etc.?

I think that you just have to look at it like you would with having singletons. Each of them would have their own teacher and you wouldn't worry about it.

It's going to be our first year separate. I'm sure there will be an adjustment, and we'll just take it one day at a time.

Mine have never been together, and the difference in teachers has never been an issue. Last year Marcus had 1 regular ed teacher, 2 special ed teachers, and 1 parapro assigned to his class. Jon just had the regular ed teacher. The only time it made a difference was when it was time for teacher gifts. Like Marissa said, if they were singletons, you wouldn't even think twice about it.

The biggest problem we have had with my girls being in separate classes is the homework. The girls seem to get the teachers that one will give homework just about everyday where as the other teacher only gives it a couple times a week. Our school works with the parent when it comes to teacher conferences and for class parties I will either skip out on both of them or go to one and stay for a little while and then go to the other.

Never had any problems with different teachers. In K - 2nd all the teachers gave out the same homework packages once a week, so that wasn't an issue. We'll see how 3rd grade goes. As far as parties, I have always split up my party time, but made sure I attended both.

Mine (ID also) were separated last year for K and there were no problems. The only thing was one teacher gave homework .. the other didn't .. and this made the one without homework feel left out ! My only real problem was when one gets invited to a birthday party and not the other because most parents don't even realize they are twins. But I never regretted the decision to separate .. they really DO need to be on their own. Mine have a very close relationship ... they're pretty much "conjoined" at home .. so this time away helps them to be able to focus on something other than each other. However .. their classrooms last year and this year are right next to each other and the teachers let them visit each others classrooms frequently. The other kids get a kick out of seeing them together and they feel special when they are visiting the others classroom. :)
