First Cereal?

I am just curious what you all have done. We are feeding them their first cereal tonight. I am really excited! I think they will really like it!

 

Our pedi says rice is the least allergic. Good luck, it's messy but loads of fun watching them!

DD started the boys on rice cereal a couple of days ago and so far it hasn't gone too well.. I doubt if they have swallowed any of it.. any suggestions to get them more interested?

We did oatmeal because my boys have major constipation issues. They have always loved it!

 

We did rice first with my daughter, and she didn't like it much.....so we moved to oatmeal, but that upset her stomach.

Since then, I've read that it's fine to do other mild foods first, instead of cereal.....so with these new munchkins, I think we're going to do avocado or bananas or sweet potatoes first!

Either way, it is lots of fun in the beginning.

 

We started our older DD on rice. She hated it. I switch to barley which she really liked. I was going to start the twins on barley, ,but when I went to get it our store was out and so I started them on oatmeal. They eat it but are not crazy about it so I'm so I'm going to try barley with them soon - as soon as I get around to buying it :icon_biggrin:

 

The boys had rice added to their bottles since they were 2 weeks old due to reflux. Then when we began "feeding" it to them we added oatmeal into the mix. I find the oatmeal helps them have easier bowel movements.

 

We also started with rice cereal.

 

I voted for rice, because that's what we gave them first, but it constipated them so so so badly that we switched to oatmeal very quickly and haven't had rice cereal since, except occasionally in a meat dinner jar. Oatmeal is the best!!

 

We tried oatmeal with them since DS1 hated rice cereal. They didn't like it at all. They hated it! Their faces were so funny! Thanks for the advice!

 

We gave them rice first. However, they prefer oatmeal and have eaten it more.

Where's the pics? :icon_biggrin: We moved quickly to a veggie, as my kids didn't care for the cereals either! :bad:

 

Rice first. It is the easiest to digest and is the least likely to have allergies! Let us know how it went!

 

We did the oatmeal with all of ours because they all had rice cereal in their bottles first. We have a history of constipation in our family so the oatmeal is a better choice for us.

 

Oatmeal and Barley are big hit around here... still. I swear these babies will eat anything.
