    Hello All!

Would you please share the age of your twins when you FIRST served cereal to them?
And, how long does that go on before you move on to the next thing? Is the next thing the oatmeal?
I am just going by the top shelf in the baby food aisle here people :)

    Thanks!

I just started rice cereal at 6 months. I stayed on rice cereal (just) for a week before I added sweet potatoes. When I had the twins, I added oatmeal at about 7 months and it upset their stomachs.

You need this book : Super Baby Food by Ruth Yarin. It will tell you everything you need to know about what to serve, how, when, how much, how to make your own baby food etc. Its the best money Ive spent honest! It also comes complete with ideas for making safe household cleaners, homemade toys, crafts etc.
My babies started food at 6 months rice cereal, then fruit and veggies. At 8 months we started finger foods. goodluck!

We started rice cereal at 6 months. 3 days later we gave oatmeal, then we started giving vegetables and veggies.

We started cereal at 6 months. It was 5 days after starting cereal that we started fruit per doc. He just thought they were ready. HTH :).

We started rice cereal at around 4-4 1/2 months, but not everyday. Then, we added one day rice, one day oatmeal. We just started two times a day this week. After her six month check up, we will start adding more foods starting with the green veggies, then other veggies, and finally fruit. That's what we did with the twins. Supposedly (who knows if it's true), if you give them the "yucky" veggies first that aren't sweet, they will like them more because they don't know any differently, but if you start with the sweet yummy ones (sweet potatoes, etc), they won't have a taste for the spinach and such when you introduce them. I will introduce a new item every few days.

I tried to give them rice cereal at 4.5 months but they weren't ready so I tried again at 5.5 months and they took to it really well. I just added a little bit of fruit to the rice and then moved on to veggies.

so my question is - do you feed cereal at each meal or just once a day. I am having a hard time getting it all in during the day.

we have 6oz milk in the morning, then my sitter does cereal, veggie & fruit at 10 am, a bottle (maybe 5 oz) then 8 oz at about 3pm. when we get home, we have cereal with veggies and fruit. The girls don't want to have their last bottle - we get maybe 3 oz in.

I know that they get their main nutrition from their milk - so they need to drink all of their milk each day.

so how do you get it all in?

At 6 months we were just starting giving 2 meals a day to them-breakfast and dinner both of which included cereal. If they arent interested in their last bottle, I might drop the evening cereal feed or just decrease the amount so that they take more formula or EBM.

We started rice cereal at 5 months, although we had the ok from their pediatrician to start at 4. We did rice cereal for 4 days, and then moved on to squash. I don't know if there is a set order list, although I've heard you're supposed to do veges before fruits. We didn't, we're just working through a small list of stage 1 foods, and sticking with each for around 4 days.
