Thank you all for the birthday wishes for Noelle and Karl!

This weekend we had family come to town for their birthday. It was a full house and I loved it! Our kiddos loved having their cousins in town--lots of fun noise--new toys and outfits!

Well, ladies, its been a very interesting year. The babies were born at 37 weeks after DS's water broke. They were born about 25 minutes apart during a natural vaginal delivery. Funny side-note, my DH and I were were watching last year's SuperBowl the day after the babies were born [IMG].

Let's just say that our babies are higher maintenance...where do I start...reflux, food intolerances, fighting sleeping... For me, I had many BFing ups and downs...mastitis, clogged ducts. I also had to go on a restricted food diet because my DD is intolerant of dairy. When I went off of dairy, her stuffy nose cleared up and she quit spitting up as much. I also have to watch processed meats because it seems to make both babies act "crazy" the next day. My DS was the one with the reflux. And, I'm wondering, if my DD might have been a little colicky. Trying to get them to fall asleep was hard. Their sleeping greatly improved around 8 months when they started taking regular naps and DD started waking only once to BF at night--yippee!

Their little personalities are amazing to watch unfold. DD is a lover, cuddler, loves to eat, cautious, thumb sucker and fast temper. DS is also a lover, laid-back, curious, smiles a lot, although he likes to wine and has just started to throw himself to the floor in a temper-tantrum (hat-tip oldest DD [IMG]).

This has been the hardest year of my life! But let me just say that I wouldn't trade these little ones for anything [IMG]. We are looking forward to their next big milestone--walking! When the weather gets nicer (about zero today in South Dakota--burrrrrr), we will be walking the sidewalks, wearing out those new shoes.

Thanks for letting me ramble about the loves of my life. My aviator shows the babies a few weeks ago with my oldest.

    Germaine

Oh, yeah, my birthday is tomorrow, and when I went into labor, I was hoping that the babies would be born on my birthday--no such luck.
