I cant belive it but my LOs are going to be one year old in 2 weeks :)

Im a Brit living in Spain and none of my family will be around for their birthday as we have just had them christened (2 days ago) which they came over for.

My questions is, I want to celebrate their 1st birthday and am thinking of having a quiet celebration at our flat with DH´s immediate family plus my best friend who is godmother to DS. We´ll be 8 people including the twins. Any ideas for what I can do without it being over the top?

    TIA!

At that age, a cake and a balloon will make them very happy! What kind of ideas were you looking for exactly?

How about an assortment of light finger foods and then some cake and maybe one other dessert? I like simple for sure.

Our 1st birthday party had 14 people (counting us and the twins) and we kept it low key. We ordered a pizza, my DH made some roast beef for sandwiches, we had some chips and pretzels, sodas, and a salad. We did do a Winnie the Pooh theme but I don't think a theme is necessary, the people you have there will keep them entertained plenty. As a pp suggested, they would be just as happy with cake and a balloon, ours were fascinated by the balloons! Good luck!

Thanks girls! I like Winnie the Pooh idea. Everything I have is practically WTP as it is! Thank you!

We kept ours low key too and just did a bbq (burgers and hot dogs) with cupcakes for the kids and guests. We played, ate, and opened presents. It was very low stress for us.

I know it will be a few months until my guys turn 1, but I'm already thinking about it. I'm torn between making a banana cake (which I know they will love) and a chocolate cake which will show up nicely in pictures (all over their faces, hair, walls...)

My mother's friend had 70 (!) people over for her youngest son's first birthday. I just don't get it. The babies won't really get anything out of a huge party.

Low-key is great; just take lots of pictures!

Hey little sis' I cannot believe they will be 1 years old either. I remember when they were just born!!!!!

A would do a cupcake cake so you can just break them off and give them each a cupcake and then the guests can have it too. We ordered pizza and put a bowl of salad out. Very easy and low key even with having a lot of people.

    Can't wait to see pics!
