first birthday presents

Okay, so the girls turn one in August (the 31st to be exact - I know I'm planning TOO far in advance!). Obviously, I'll get them some toys (have an Octotunes on the way)...but when I was going through my jewelry the other night, I found a ring I was given as an infant which is way too small to fit me now, but it's still kinda neat to have it and know how small I was way back when. I was thinking of getting the girls rings in their current size (0) with their birthstone (peridot) as kinda a "special" first birthday present - not really to wear, but more for the sake of memories. However, some co-workers disagreed, saying I should do a necklace with their birthstones that they can wear later on - but again, wearing it later isn't necessarily the point. Is this a stupid idea? What sayeth you, other twin moms...

Oh, and if you do happen to think it'd be a neat idea, do i get them matching rings? Or one in white gold and one in yellow? They are ID, but they're anything but ID in personality...

I like the necklace idea too but whatever you decide, it's going to be very special to them as they get older. And, they could even wear their ring on a necklace one day. I would get matching. ^_^ We're getting the boys carseats! How exciting, huh?!?

 

I like the pp idea of them wearing the rings on a necklace. maybe get the rings now & when they are older get nice chains for them to put them on. that way, they get both! (oh, and mine turn 1 at the end of august & i'm already planning too!!)

 

I really like the necklace idea . I would get matching. Since their personalities are so different, this can be one thing they can wear to always be "the same - connected" KWIM? Hard to put into words, but sounds good in my head :lol:

I haven't started to plan my guys birthday yet (July 3). I think I am still in denial that my "babies" are gonna be ONE!

I like the idea of getting the rings. I wanted to get one for DS even though he is a boy just for him to have. I hope to get them for the girls too. Like PP said they can wear them on necklaces later on. If it were me I would get matching ones.

 

I like both ideas!! DH and I were thinking about jewelry also. I think that is just so special.

And by the way, IMO, you are not crazy for planning now. My girls will be one the day after yours and you wouldn't believe what I have done so far. :laughing:

 

If it is between the necklace and rings; I would go the rings. You could add the necklaces later when they are older. You could also do baby braclets for them.
