I was totally not going to do a first birthday for my girls but it looks like I dont have much of a choice. lol

I am thinking of keeping it *small* like immediate family, which is not small at all! I am going to work on their invites on Friday with my sister, we use a picture of the girls and photoshop for invites. I am thinking just doing cake and coffee, I am still broke from their dedication ceremony last month! I am going to use the leftover paperware from their dedication party as well. HOT pink!! :p
I also want to keep it to about 2-2.5hrs so the girls can still stay on their schedule somewhat.

    What are you all doing?

It's funny you brought this up. I was discussing our first b-day party with my Mom last night. Since the babies birthday is the day after Christmas, I figured it would tricky to do but we basically decided to do a small Winnie the Pooh theme party with just immediate family, in our case it is small. It would be my parents, my Mom's best friend who is like a mother to me, DH's aunt and uncle, my three SIL's and BIL's, and my cousin. We'll just be getting the Winnie the Pooh paperware, a couple of balloons and I will make cupcakes.
We might order a pizza but I'm not sure. We can't afford to have a big to do nor do we have the space for it either. Plus the babies won't really know any different this year.
    Love the hot pink paperware!

We're planning on having just family over too. That alone will fill up our house. We're going with a Sesame Street theme. I was thinking 1p-4, but might do 12p-3p so they can go down for a nap in the afternoon like normal. We're going with a very simple menu: pizza, salad, breadsticks and beverages. We'll also have cake and ice cream. I bought a custom banner for them to hang. I also want to get some 1st birthday balloons to decorate the house.

My Guys Bdays are the week of Christmas....(the 19th) so we are going to have a Brunch at 10 am on the Saturday before Christmas...we are doing it early because family memebers will want to go and Christmas shop later in the day and will most likely have Christmas Parties to attend that night.

My family is huge, so there is NO doing anything small around here.

our party will be at 2pm (their naptime). i'm gonna pt them down for a nap at 1pm and whenever they wake up, they wake up. they don't have to be up right at 2. it's gonna be at my parents' house, cuz we can't fit everybody in our house. it's gonna be aunts, uncles and cousins, so it'll be crowded. we're doing a firrst birthday princess theme (not doing the dance theme, as they may want to do that when they're older). i chose that theme, cuz, well, it was one of the only first bday ones at the party store :pardon: we got them shirts off cafepress that say "happy birthday twin sister!", and they'll wear their tutus teehee

Ya...Some of you already know what I am doing. I will have to post and let you know how it all turns out! On dh's side of the family-they always have a big first birthday party-especially for the first baby(ies). He being Italian, he's got a rather large extended family. Then you add my family, our close friends, and well...it's 130 people! You can't invite one aunt, and not the other... So far we are at 47 yay's and 17 nay's. The RSVP deadline is next Friday. And for their 2nd birthday? Don't you worry-it's just IMMEDIATE family! ;)

As for themes-we did blue/green. Those are the colors that were designated to them when they got thrush-and it stuck. They don't always wear blue/green-only when I can find certain outfits does it apply. And the color theme-is much cheaper than a "commercialized" theme. However, I do think on their actual birthday-I might go and get First Birthday plates, etc. I don't know. We'll see...

As for food....ya...it will be a feast. Antipasto: sorpressata, cappicola(both of which are homemade by mil), cheese, mushrooms, eggplant, olives, chips, veggies, dips, deviled eggs....The meal is pasta/meatballs(homemade by mil), chicken milanese, potatoes, veggies, sausage/peppers/onions grinders. And dessert is two half sheet cakes and various cookies. I tell ya-it's a feast and it's going to be quite the day!

My sister said MTV's My First Super Birthday Bash crew will be here to film it! :rotflmbo:

I'm already thinking ahead to the girls' 1st birthday too, I'm glad I'm not alone!! haha.

They were born Dec. 29th, but I'm thinking of having their party on Dec 27th in hopes that family from out of town will still be around!! Our theme is "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" b/c I sing that song to them every night. Also since it's so close to Christmas I figure I can use the colors Silver, White & Blue and I'm hoping I'll easily be able to find star things to decorate with. We're doing cupcakes with star cookies on them, but other than that, I am not sure what we'll serve as a meal & I don't have a time down.

I thought it was going to be just family, but there were 3 other girls born at our church in the months preceding our twins. We just attended one of their 1st birthdays & we talked about everyone being invited to MY girls' 1st birthday party!! So, our guest list grew by at least 3 more couples. EEK!

We are doing a pumpkin/halloween themed party. I figure I can leave the decorations up up until halloween. It is a costume party, the kiddos are going to be a devil and an angel. Dh will bbq and I will make the cakes. So far I have sent out about 35 invites, so probably around 30 guests or so. I can't believe this year has gone by so fast!!

We still have a little ways to go but I can't decide either whether to just invite family or what. I kinda want to make a big deal about it because we had such a long road getting them here and home from the NICU. (Not as hard as some I know, but still). But then sometimes I think I would like to keep it to family. I don't want people to feel obligated to buy presents, we don't have room for a lot of extra stuff and our family buys a ton of stuff anyway. Our house is way too small to even accommodate immediate family and I really don't want to do it at IL's house. I thought renting a pavilion at a local park would be great but their birthday is in February and I can't push it to the spring because my niece's first b'day is then. argh. Glad this thread is here, maybe I get some good ideas too... I'm totally lost.

We are doing a Noah's Ark (2 by 2) themed party. We are having it at my IL's because they have the perfect party house. I have invited way too many people (over 100) and we are just going to cook Hamburgers and Hot Dogs and have a BBQ. I have it starting at 2 and ending whenever. I don't know a lot of people with kids, so it will be mostly adults using it as an excuse to party!

I posted my invites a few days ago, we are doing a "Barnyard Birthday Bash" Just a few friends and family. My mom and Stepfather and MIL and her husband are coming into town for the party. There will be around 30 people so not that big. My MIL offered to do most of the cooking which is great with me. It will start at 3:30 on Sunday the 5th. Which is when they usually wake up from their nap. We will have sausage and peppers, hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans and coleslaw, chips, veggies and dips. My friend is also going to make wings. I still have to order a cake too. I wish I could make one but I don't know what a good idea that would be. I made a cake in 8th grade for class..LOL. There will be some older kids so I am going to set up a rubber horseshoe pit and a backgamon net. To keep them entertained. I am going to try and decorate with some cardboard cut outs of cows, pigs and horses and get some hay bails for seating and decoration. I still have to much to do. Wish me luck
