are you doing two cakes or one? i am having it at a venue and they didn't offer me 2 cakes, lol.
also since i am doing a cupcake theme i was thinking of doing cupcakes instead of a cake?

    wwyd?

OH and what 'type' of cake are you doing? i definitely wanted to do a white cake but am unsure of the filling. my LOs love bananas so naturally i wanted to do a banana cream filling but my DH said many people may not like that. so i was thinking of just doing cupcakes, instead.

    hmm..

Since you are having the cupcake theme which is adorable BTW, I would just do cupcakes. That way you don't have to get a big cake for each boy or try to find a filling everyone will like. Cupcakes are so fun anyways so many different ways to decorate them, you could even do a cupcake cake!

the bakery said they do large cakes in the shape of a cupcake.
i just wasn't sure what to do for fillings, etc and whether or not i should do cupcakes OR a cupcake cake, lol.

We did cupcakes for everyone else, and then I made the cakes for my LOs. I wanted to do a carrot cake (since it seemed like it might be a bit less of a shocker for them, since the sweetest thing they've had thus far is yogurt or fruit cups), but I chickened out and just did plain white. They ate very little of it, but we got cute pictures.

So, in answer to your question - you could try making banana filling cakes for them!

a cake comes with their meal package for their party.
the bakery will of course do cupcakes OR a cake in the shape of a cupcake (for a larger charge, lol)

If I were doing a cupcake theme, I would definitely do cupcakes (I love cupcakes!). The flavor is totally up to you, but I will say that brightly colored frosting of any color will stain (speaking from experience) so you might want to keep that in mind when deciding on colors.

I got the Wiltons large cupcake cake to make for everyone to eat and then I have the wiltons 4 smaller (yet larger than a regular cupcake) cupcake pan.. the twins will each get one nice size cupcake of their own to have fun with and everyone else will dig into the larger cake one! ....we're doing the cupcake theme bday party here, too! :) lol

Not sure on type of cake yet -you're way ahead of me on that! :)

I did a sheet cake (with plain frosting and just colored letters for their names) and then made them two cupcakes for them to smash around and eat. I would do the cupcakes for everyone (I'm with Tina, another cupcake fan here). Good luck with the rest of your party planning!

If cupcakes are your theme I would for sure do cupcakes. I too am a huge fan of cupcakes. I am having a 1st birthday party this week. I am getting a kit by Wilton that is cupcakes in 4 shapes that you build into a train.

if you want to do the banana creme flavor, then do it! its all about what you want ... who cares what others want, they get to choose when its their party! enjoy!

I'd probably give each baby a cupcake and do the big cupcake for everyone else. I have the smaller wilton cup cake pan and they're so CUTE! If the twins aren't eating the big cake then I'd probably go w a neutral filling but it really is up to you! The babies cup cakes could be banana cake thought.. they'd probably love that!

I'd also give each twin their own cupcake to eat. I definitely agree with the poster who said that dark colors stain. My mom made one of my daughters a mickey cake for her first birthday and used black icing on it, it was a nightmare.

I love the cupcake idea too! I chose a butter yellow cake mix (I make my own cakes....boxed of course!), and used white icing as the base. We bought the #1 cake pan from wilton and I made 2 cakes, one I iced pink, one I iced blue and used purple to line the edges and write their names on them. Then I just cut the first piece for each of them and put them on plates. They loved it, ate all of it! Made a mess too!

Ditto dark/strong colors will stain. Blues, reds, blacks, greens...etc. Pastel colors won't stain near as bad!
