I just started my first AF after the babies. It's really heavy! I'm saturating a super plus tampon and a super pad within one to two hours. It's been like this now for almost two days. Did you ladies have a really heavy AF for your first time after the twins birth? Is this normal or should I be concerned? Sorry if this is TMI.

I don't think there can ever be TMI on here, so don't worry about that! My first period since having my twins 10 months ago started yesterday (stopped breastfeeding about a month ago) and is a little heavier than my periods before having children, but about the same as after having my first child. I typically had very light, short periods before having children, so this is not nearly as heavy as what you are experiencing, but can't use a regular tampon like I used too. Maybe yours is also heavier because it has not been very long since the birth of your babies? It wouldn't hurt to call your OB and mention it; that does sound like a lot of bleeding.

That does sound a bit excessive IMHO.
I would call just to be sure. Are you breastfeeding?

With all of my children my periods were extremely heavy and crampy the first few times. They did eventually get back to my norm. (Fun, huh?!)

My first couple of periods were very heavy, but if you are concerned call your doctor just to make sure. GL.

Guess I'm just a weirdo. I've had two periods since my babies were born and they were not as heavy as I remembered my periods to be.

Everyone's different though. I would call "just in case."

Mine was really, really heavy for the first 6 months after the boys. It has leveled out a bit now.

I started my first period this week...and the first 2 days were extremely heavy! It's tapering off now, but it's worse than normal...so, I think it just depends, but if you're worried, always ask a doctor. Hopefully it'll slow down soon...definitely didn't miss this part!

I bled for a month after giving birth (I had a VB with both) and when my first AF came it was really heavy. My ob/gyn said to expect severañ heavy AFs and he was right. I had my first AF 6 weeks after giving birth. I wouldnt be concerned but if it gives you peace of mind, or if you notice something out of the ordinary - like extreme pain/discomfort - I´d call your ob/gyn just to be sure.

Mine was super heavy when I first got it, and it seemed to last forever. I don't think you should be worried yet, but if it makes you feel better call the Dr. That is what they are there for!

Thanks for your responses. I'm not too worried, I just wanted to be sure it was more normal than not to have a heavier period after having the babies. I wasn't able to bf really, I tried though. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one!

I had my girls six months ago and have had three periods since that have been super heavy just like yours. I'm actually having one now and it's still heavy and it's been three days already. I can't even sit up off the toilet without blood dripping all over the seat and floor...sorry. I thought about calling my doctor but my doctor never seems too concerned about anything so I thought I would just wait to see how next cycle turns out.
