Where do I begin? I am in total finger food confusion. We got the green light to get the girls onto more solid foods because they are soooo disintersted in pureed stuff. Do you mind sharing how you got started? Should I start tossing stuff at them for one meal and work my way up from there?

We started with wheat toast with applesauce, shredded cheese and avacado.

Now they eat pretty much anything if it is cut up small enough. I would suggest investing in a good pizza cutter - it will make your life a lot easier!

    Good Luck!

We have the Pampered Chef pizza cutter which I absolutely love. I guess I'll start giving them some things at lunch and once they get used to it, add it in other places. Thanks Becky for that link, it had some great info!

We did the shredded cheese, the gerber puffs, overcooked pasta, cheerios, the pepperidge farm swirls toast.

aside from puffs, i just started feeding them other "finger foods"- the website the pp suggested is great! i've done overcooked pasta, shredded cheese, mini pancakes cut into little pieces, cooked peas, cut up mac n cheese and the "slimy" stuff; cooked peaches & plums rolled in graham cracker crumbs, bananas rolled in wheat germ & last night we did tofu pieces rolled in crushed nilla wafers! the tofu was a huge hit, but ended up being a "face, hair, ear & hand food" more than a "finger food"!

in answer to your question, yes I would just start putting items in front of them to see what they can get/grasp. About 1 month ago my kids couldn't get cheerios in their mouths; now they can. They also couldn't get black beans in there a few days ago; today they could. It's all a matter of practice. I found that small cubes of bread is a GREAT starter; it was the easiest thing for mine to practice on.
