When did you start giving your babies finger foods, like puffs, etc? What are some other finger foods your kids liked? What are good things to put in mesh feeders? TIA!

My kids were puff challenged. It took them along time to get it and I think I started around 7 months when they could sit up unassisted and it may not have been until 9 months or so that they could feed themselves. But I did break them in pieces and feed them to them myself.

Other finger foods...cheerios and pieces of soft fruit (rolled in cheerio dust to help them from being slimy).

For the mesh feeders we started off with some smashed bananas. That was really all we did in those, but I know there are some more adventurous mommas out there with great ideas. Happy feeding!! :)

Right around 7 months! When I first started puffs, I broke off little pieces and gave it to them that way, until they got used to the new texture.

Mesh feeders are great for chunks of fruit and veggie, also biter biscuits...you don't have to worry about them biting off chunks! Banana is really tough to get out of the mesh feeders(but the babies love it!), unless you soak it in hot water right away. You can also put chunks of frozen fruit in there, for teething.

so that's the trick for feeding bananas huh. i was wondering how to get them to be able to pick them up

you can put just about anything in themesh feeder. peaches, pears, peas, green beans, pasta, anything that you can mash you can put in them. frozen fruit in mesh feeder is good for teething too.

I started finger foods around 6/7 months. Started with cheerios and puffs and biter biscuts. Then went to fruit, veggies that were soft or cooked until soft and diced.

we waited until 6 months to start solids, so mine didnĀ“t get puffs until about 8 months or so. we turned out to be mesh feeder challenged, the kids would suck on the handle, and i couldn't get them clean :unknw:

To this day my guys will not eat a puff or cheerio by themselves. They pick them up and look at them but wait for me to feed it to them.

The only thing they will eat themselves are arrowroot biscuits!
