HELP I need Idea's.....I feel like the babies are living off of Formula, Baby Food & PUFFS PUFFS PUFFS. I don't know if its because they like the puffs so well or if they just like to feed themselves.

Today I gave them green beans cut up in bite size pcs. Katie ate them pretty good, Kyle just turned his nose up. Also I cut up some pears that were cooked and tried that they looked at me like [IMG] What?
I ended up giving them baby food and they ate it alot better than the beans and pears

I guess they are getting enough nutrician *sp* from the formula, baby food & puffs but I really want them to get use to texture SO when we go out to eat or to a Family gathering I can feed them something from the table.

I still offer some baby food at each meal. My DD does a lot better with table food than my DS, so I give him more baby food to be sure he is getting enough. We have done: pancakes, waffles, cheese, toast, grilled cheese, crackers, puffs, cheerios, bananas, potatoes, pasta.

For breakfast I will have them munch on puffs/cheerios while I get everything ready. I will give a pancake or toast and my DS gets a whole jar of fruit mixed with oatmeal (2.5 tbsp. oatmeal) and my DD gets 1/2 jar of fruit mixed with oatmeal. My DD will eat more of the pancake or toast.

    For lunch:
DS-a whole yogurt, a whole veggie (sometimes 1/2) grilled cheese, pasta, cheese, puffs, cheerios (all of these aren't offered in one lunch except the veggie and yogurt).
DD-1/2 yogrut, 1/2 veggie and some foods that were mentioned with DS.

    Dinner:
DS-a meat/veggie meal, and some of what we are having
DD-a meat/veggie meal, and some of what we are having

There is nothing wrong with still offering baby food until you know they are getting enough table food. DS is having a bit harder time giving up the baby food, so he gets more. I don't have a problem with that as I would like them to start dropping a bottle so I want to be sure they are getting plenty of other foods.

You can try anything soft with them. And you may have to try the same thing a few times before they will eat it. DS has had cheese before and liked it, but just today when he put a piece in his mouth he spit it out.

You can give them soft pears (not cooked). Try a grilled cheese sandwich (no crusts). Graham Crackers. Cheerios, bananas, thin spagetti. Be patient, not everyone takes on textures too well!

Toast was always a big hit at our house. No crusts, cut into strips.

    You can also try:
    peas
    thin shreds of meat
    cheese
small diced veggies and fruits (cooked or soft)
    teething biscuits

Canned foods were our friend in the beginning. We tried to rinse everything to get the extra sodium or sugar off. But the consistency was just right.

    Our canned faves:

    green beans
    carrots
    corn
    black beans
    kidney beans
    pears
    peaches

We also did lots of string cheese, oyster crackers, pretzels, and goldfish crackers.

Thanks Yall....You have listed things I never thought about LOL...

I also bought some canned veggies, I don't really eat much for lunch and I just hate to have to cook up something major for them when I'm eating tuna and crackers. We tried the cheese toast today for lunch and waffles for supper they really liked both. I cut them with a pizza cutter (to the width I wanted) then I pinched them off in bite size pcs.

We haven't mastered Cherrios yet. I haven't offered them in a while but last time I did they gagged I might try them again and break them in half.

Also Do you give Formula or juice with the meals?? I usually do formula but they seem to be getting tired of formula or either they fill up on the meal and just don't want the formula.

I'm going to keep expermenting with your suggestions.

    Thanks Again [IMG]

Ok, you're going to think I'm crazy but besides from puffs, cheerios, cut up toasted waffles and mini whole frozen ones, we give them whole pickles to naw on. I was told that this helps with teething so after dinner occassionally I will hand them a pickle and let me tell you, it keeps them entertained for at least a half hour in their highchair and they LOVE them. I buy the low sodium organic kind so that makes me feel a little better but they just LOVE LOVE LOVE them.....

That is so funny....You saying that made me remember that we did that with our 6 yr old. He would get SO MAD when you would take it away from him [IMG] Now He LOVES Pickles. Last night I went to subway and ordered his usual 6" Meatball sub without the meat balls [IMG] just sauce, cheese and PICKLES on it. Boy do I get a strange look when I order that [IMG]
