I am hoping to find out the genders at my level II u/s scheduled for July 5th and am getting very excited about it. However, I'm worried about them getting it wrong! I saw an episode of The Baby Story where the couple had twins. They were told they were havinng 2 boys and ended up having 2 girls. Can some twin mommies relate their experience for us expecting mommies?

What week did you find out the sexes?

Did a later u/s end up showing something different than what you were first told?

Did anyone only find out at the birth that the u/s was wrong?

    Thanks in advance,
    Cary

Mine were all accurate, after 19 weeks. Anything before that, they weren't 100% sure. I found out this time at 20 weeks that both are boys. Every u/s since has confirmed it since their "boy parts" are getting more and more pronounced.

I had one done at 19 weeks and we were told it was two girls. Three weeks later I told her to check again - two girls. Three weeks later I told her to check again - two girls. Another couple of weeks I told her to just check one more time to make sure - two girls. And guess what? I had two girls!!

Our u/s tech looked at me the third time and said something like "Ya know, I've been doing this for 30 years. I would tell you if there was a doubt in my mind. With these girls, I don't have a doubt at all".

I heard tooooo many stories about them being wrong and I am a planner so I just wanted to make sure she was right. I would not have cared what the sexes were, I just had to check, double check and triple check!

At my 13w u/s the tech told me she *thought* Baby B was a boy because it looked a little thick between the legs. I found out for sure at my 17w3d u/s that Baby A was girl and Baby B was a boy, so at 13w they were correct. I then asked them again at my 20w u/s to verify it was a girl and a boy.

Nope, they were right all along.

    N/A

I wanted to say too, that you will probably get lots of u/s, so they should be able to tell for sure, at some point, as long as the babies cooperate. I got an u/s at every OB visit, to check the h/b, and peri, for a growth u/s, so there were lots of chances to find out.

I had an u/s at 16 weeks and the u/s tech told me that Baby B was most likely a girl (meaning she didn't see any boy parts) and she could not tell for Baby A. Then I went to a place that does specialty ultrasounds that is just for fun, you can pay if you want to go look at your baby in 3D for an hour and they'll do the gender determination as well. I went there at 17 weeks and they got SEVERAL excellent pictures of both babies "flowers" you could clearly see the three little white lines that mean "girl". I go for the gender u/s at the OB on Wednesday, but I am confident they are both girls, we have pictures of both of their parts, and they definitely don't have boy parts.

I found out at 20 weeks that they were both girls, and at every u/s after that I had them confirm it (my husband desperately wanted one of them to be a boy). We were told at an earlier u/s that one was a girl and they thought one was a boy but could only speculate because it was too early and it could have been the umbilical cord they were seeing (obviously it was).

I found out a 19 weeks that we were having a boy and girl. They told us the same at our 24 week and 28 weeks scan. They say U/S are 96% right, they cant tell you 100 % as there is always going to be a slight chance they get it wrong. Like pp said you will get a lot of U/S so by the time you are ready to give birth you will definetly know what they are x

We have so many u/s when pg with twins, it must be rare that they get them BOTH wrong on genders. My tech said suggestive of same gender at 13 wk u/s (but would not tell us which gender  ). Then boys boys boys at 17, 21 wk u/s. As sure as she could be 99.999% as they never say 100% at my drs office.

    GOOD LUCK and CONGRATS!!!

I was told we were having girls at our 20 wk u/s and have had it recomfirmed at 24 wks and 28 wks. Now that we started working on the room and everything is pinky and girly I really just want to be sure we'll end up with 2 girls, so I'll have them check again at our 32 wk u/s. :itwins:

I was told a probably two girls at 18 weeks. At 20 weeks, they said 2 girls. At each appointment after, I have asked and/or looked myself and still two girls. I will find out soon enough if my 'girls' are really that or not. But I am pretty confident with all the U/Ss we have had that someone would have seen something different at this point if there were danglers between the legs.

My ob first guessed early but said not to paint anything yet, he was pretty sure one was a boy and thought the other may be a girl
at my Peri apt at 18 weeks they confirmed what my ob had said but they were more sure.
    AND THEY WERE RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!:)

I didn't have an ultrasound between 8 and 20 weeks. At 20 weeks, even I could tell they were boys before the tech said so! It was pretty obvious. Of course, there were a number of later ultrasounds that confirmed what we already knew.

I did have someone in my childbirth class who had been told girl at her ultrasound and they had decorated the room and bought all kinds of girly stuff (including a pink carseat!). She was having IUGR issues and they did an ultrasound and what do you know, their "girl" had boy parts! So yes, it is possible for them to get it wrong but in her case, they had struggled to see around a leg during her first ultrasound. Since she was having a singleton, there normally wouldn't be any later ultrasounds so she would have been surprised if not for the growth problems.

With the boys, you could see it! They had boy parts! I had a u/s at 20 weeks with them to determine gender.

With this one, I had one last week, and they said they were pretty sure it was a girl because there were no male parts present. They said of course to save all receipts. I went crazy with buying pink stuff last night, so she better be a girl, and we have her named picked out, LOL

If not, I did save reciepts and have a boy name picked out as well!

I don't know about you, but I have had many u/s with this pregnancy. (7 & I am only20 weeks! w/ more to come!) If one gets it wrong, someone else will get it right. The first u/s sound that they where able to get the sexes right, however, she did not get the placenta count right. She said they where di di twins (two placentas & two sacs) However, now they say they are mono di twins. They do make mistakes. However, just hope someone else will see it.

We found out that Kelly (baby A) was a girl at 16 weeks and Kaitlyn (baby B) was a girl at 20 weeks. I remember my DH asking the peri if he was sure about Kaitlyn. The peri froze the picture on the screen and circled her girly part and said, "yeah, I'm pretty sure". He was right! You have so many u/s with a multiple pregnancy that the odda are very good that they'll get it right.

I was told at 16weeks that baby a was a girl and she said if she had to guess on baby B she would say girl also..Well I had another u/s at 20 weeks and they are both still girls...i think the machines are much better than they were a few yrs ago, but a lot depends on the expirence of the tech..GL

I was told the genders at 14 weeks and at today appt. (18 weeks) they are still the same. I actually had a pic of the "three lines" that are a tell tale sign of the labia for the girl since I was questioning so much. Boys are very obvious.

My dd found out at 16 weeks on a high resolution u/s that she was having boys. They were di/mo so she had u/s's every two weeks throughout on the high resolution machine and they never once had any doubt and in fact they called them baby boy a and baby boy b..

We were told that we were having boys and it didn't change throughout the ultrasounds. We ended up having boys so it was accurate. Our pedi said that if you are told you are having a boy, it is quite accurate (although mistakes can and do happen!) but if you are told you're having girls, that has a higher error rate. They u/s tech is more likely to "miss" the boy part than to see one that isn't there.

I was told Baby A was a girl at 17 weeks and probably Baby B was a girl but wouldnt' say for sure. At 26 weeks I was told they were both girls and they were!

We saw "girl parts" so we were pretty sure about our ultrasounds.

We had our first u/s at 19 weeks and they were certain at that time that it was two girls. All my weekly u/s from then on also showed two girls. Two girls is what we had. :D

Dax's gender was seen on my 20 week u/s and the two u/s I had after that also showed a boy.

I had my first ultrasound at 20 weeks. That's when I found out I was having twins. Baby A was about 50-75% Boy. She had trouble getting a good view because of the position of the baby. Baby B was 95% girl. At 24 weeks, we got a better look at Baby A and she is DEFINITELY not a boy. So they were wrong at first because of baby's position. Now hopefully they really are right and they are both girls. With all the checking she does, we haven't seen any boy parts and for us our son was VERY obviously a boy at 18 weeks.

I saw that episode of Baby Story also. I was told at my 17 week u/s that they were boys. The next u/s I asked again and they told me that they were still boys. I was hoping for atleast 1 girl, but it is pretty clear that they are boys.
