Well we finally saw a GI today. My new PED gave us a referral immediately and even got us a quick appointment. The waiting list is usually over a month.

Both kids will be getting an upper GI done. They are worried that Thomas may not have reflux after all and he may have something blocked. It doesnt sound great, but he assured me I need not worry. After the upper GI they will be giving Thomas another procedure (Which I cannot remember the name of) which he will need to be asleep for. I am very scared of that.

They also started them both on Erythromicin for the delayed gastric emptying. I refused REGLAN and apparently an antibiotic will do the same thing and doesnt have the potential awful side effects. I am happy with this solution.

    Finally we are getting somewhere.

Oh and they cleared me to only give them 12oz. of formula if that is what they want. We have to add olive oil to all their solids for fat.

I can live with this for now.

Tammy, that's GREAT that you're finally getting some answers! Will they be doing the upper GI under conscious sedation (since you mentioned Thomas being asleep for another procedure, but not this one)? When will the upper GIs be done & when will you get the results? I'm sooo glad you're finally getting to the bottom of all of this for Big T & Little E!

    Keep us posted!

I have to call tomorrow to schedule the appointment. He said they would be awake for the upper GI. Now maybe I should call back and ask. He did say that I would get the results within a couple days of the procedure which is nice.

    Thanks everyone!

 Yay thats great news!! I am happy you got some answers!

I had an endoscopy, its when they put the little scope down your throat into your belly and take a stomach biopsy. Its painless and I wasnt knocked out just sedated but I fell asleep for it. And Maia had an upper GI last month, she just drank a little barium and they watched everything on the screen, its was like mri/ultrasound -ish, lasted about 20mins and I got the results right then and there.

    I hope it goes well!!

Yeah for getting in fast. If the Prevacid did not work for us, the next step was the Erythromycin but we never had to get it. I hope all goes well for the kiddos. Keep up the great work, momma!!

I am glad your gonna get some answers. :) Did they mention anything about Pyloric Stenosis?? My daughter had a upper GI done and the liquid was not passing thru the stomach into the small intestine quick enough. That was the reason for her throwing everything up. She was 6 wks old and had to go into surgery to repair the pyloric. I am new here so I don't know the details of your little ones. I hope this is not the case and that the GI goes well for you. :)

WOW. It's sounds like you are having a hard time of it! I'm glad you finally saw a GI today - isn't it so frustrating when you know your babies need it and everything takes so long?

My Daniel had an Upper GI done just last week. We were relieved that there were no kinks or blockages but frustrated as well since his reflux doesn't seem to be any better at all. It wasn't a very fun experience but we got through it.

Keep us posted on your progress. I hope you find some real solutions soon!
