    Hi Everyone -
After another sleepless morning, I finally decided to say hello! My husband and I are expecting di/di boys in March '09. We are super-excited. We currently live in Berlin, Germany, so lots of stuff is different here (medical care, laws around being a parent and working, etc.) but I have been reading your posts and have learned to much! I'm looking forward to many more weeks/months here in the expecting forum!

If I'm not prying too much.....how is it different for you in Berlin (medical care, babies, working, etc.)?

well, in terms of medical care, first of all it's free (big bonus!)! my ob/gyn is very laid back about the medical aspects of a twin pregnancy and for the 2nd trimester, i have been blissfully unaware of things like fundal height, cervix length, etc. she doesn't believe in bed rest, either, but i have been taking it very slow.
with regard to work, we have laws here that allow your DR to take you out of work with full pay for the entire pregnancy if it's medically necessary. since we started out with triplets, hospital, complications, m/c of baby c at 11 weeks, my doc just took me out of work and I am at home. after the babies arrive, german parents (father or mother) can take up to three years of child care time with a guarantee to go back to their jobs afterwards. i'll have to go back after six months though, because of insurance/money issues...
i'm really enjoying the pregancy and seeing my belly grow. yesterday i lost my bellybutton - big step :)

    Congratulations on your twins!

Wow germany sounds great we are in Australia so we have free health care too but the paid time during a medically difficult pregnancy is a great idea and my poor DH got 5 days off in total after we had the twins!

Im sure you will love this site its great so :welcome: to TS rar :wavey:

Wow, this a great benefits in Germany. I have to work almost until the last day ( I took 2 days before my first c-section with singelton) and I had to comeback to work in 3 months.
I am afraid even to think what happened with twins pregnancy if I need the bedrest. first of all it woudl be unpaid or partially paid but it will cut off my FMLA so after babies are arrived I woudln't have 3 months to stay with them. This is what I hate in American medicine. And forget about babysit your child even until 1 If you don't want to loose your job.
