I had a preterm labor scare last weekend and they did the FFN test that came back positive. They gave me the steriods shots for the lungs and put me on terbutaline (sp?) Now I'm home on bedrest and taking the lowest dose of terbutaline.
I go for a growth scan tomorrow plus my OB visit....

Any false positives out there for the FFN test? I was hoping to make it to 37 weeks, but now I'm just taking it one week at the time. Funny how our goals change real quick! And....how an uneventful twin pregnancy can go to eventful real quick!

My doctor told me if the FFN test came back negative it meant it was doubtful you would go into labor early, and if it came back positive it doesn't mean you will go into labor early... it just means they couldn't rule it out. He thought of it like the quad screen test... a negative test is good, and a positive test isn't bad, it just doesn't rule out preterm labor.
    I hope this helps!

Ditto. I had one done at 28 weeks due to irritable uterus (aka the boys playing soccer with my bladder). It came back neg and no cervical changes. I made it to 35w5d!! They were perfect and no NICU [IMG]

Hang in there and take it day by day! [IMG]

My OB wouldn't even do one at my last appt (33w 2d) because she said they weren't accurate after 34 weeks...I had had 3 previously. She also said she personally wouldn't stop labor at this point either, so I don't know if it makes you feel any better, but you're at a great point where you are even if you had them today. Also, I think I read that when you get a positive, it just means there's a 25%ish chance of going into labor, where a negative is 99%plus that you won't. Hang in there and don't worry, you're in good shape and good hands!

The negative result will tell you lots more than the positive result. I had a positive fFN test at 28 weeks. I did not deliver until 34w4d. So it certainly does not mean a delivery will happen immediately!

On a side note, you should be very thankful that you are as far along as you are. I know we all want our babies in there ideally for 37 weeks, but should you deliver early, you are at a safe point at least. Hang in there!!!!
